No Papacy faction? The Pope was ally of East Roman Empire and I think it was he who ask for the reconquest of Italy from the "barbarians" ostrogoths.

I don't even think it existed back than, wasn't the Papacy created by Pepin(his name in dutch is pepijn don't know what his name is in English) the father of Charlemagne when he was crowned emperor, could be wrong about that.

The Papacy exist since the estabalishement of Cristianty altougth it was a more a leader of some christians than acutal leader of all in 4th century the papacy rose to prominience and de facto ruled Rome and a few more provinces. By this era the Pople was ally of Eastern Roman Empire in West.

Well it seems I was right

Pepin the Short's first major act was to go to war against the Lombard king Aistulf, who had a policy of expansion into the ducatus Romanum, as a partial repayment for papal support in his quest for the crown. Victorious, he forced the Lombard king to return property seized from the Church and confirmed the papacy in possession of Ravenna and the Pentapolis, the so-called Donation of Pepin whereby the Papal States was founded.[2] In 759, he drove the Saracens out of Gaul with the capture of Narbonne and then consolidated his power further by integrating Aquitaine into the kingdom. In taking Narbonne, and formally annexing Aquitaine (whose status was always dependent on the strength of her suzerains), he completed the work of his father save for one last task: fully subduing the Saxons. He was preparing for war against them when his health began to fail, and thus, this final task was left for his son, the great Charlemagne.

The Caliphate will not be playable, since Islam did not exist in 519AD. They will be a powerful emerging faction though, and will be playable in custom battles. And yes, they have their own new roster, which looks beautiful!

Pretty nice work so far. But I've got to wonder about some of the faction choices though. The Alwan, Kartli, and Moravians all basically look like nobodies. How are they going to survive? Seems like they could just be rebels. Looking at a map of Asia at 500, the Slavs might be a better choice, and the Hepthalite Kingdom was also way bigger than what's shown here (though most is offmap), it takes up just about all of Bactria/Gandhara, would that be reflected in the mod?

    1) Hephthalites are in discussion, we did the wrong map kind of. Alwan wernt a big faction but a nice adition as they really are overlooked in history. Kartli were the source of the lazican wars. and the Moravians are the slavs, the Slavs were not united at the start of the game, so showing them as united is completely wrong...

any plans for a provencial campaign for the islamic caliphat?any plans of making historical battles like battle of ninive between roman under empror heraclus and the persian?battle of yarmuk and al kadisyah of nihawand jaloula between islamic caliphat and their oponent (roman and persian).
is there a possibility for subduing the whole mod to eras?doing so will make the avar and islamic caliphate playable.

Avars are playable from the start but start in the East. Also the Islamic Caliphate campaign isnt what we aim for first version. For second version yes. But it must be remembered about 2 factions must be added for this campaign. For first version we MAY include historical battles

Default Re: -East of Rome- Suggestion & Questions Thread

Well Bulgars yea start in central asia with territories north of the caucases.... Meaning they can advance West into Crimea. South into Armenia and Georgia. East into the Avar Hordes that will pass by them and then South into Sassanids to give the sassanids a two front war.
