    Default 6.1 options and meaning

im sorry, im new to this mod. i dont understand what the options mean in the 6.1 patch, can anyone help me?

    real combat
    byg's grim reality III
permanent arrow (this i guess means arrows do not disappear in the duration of the battle)
remove supply (i guess theres a feature in this mod for supplies and this removes it?)

    thanks a lot!

There are even links at the installer which will take you to the relevant threads...

Yes, there is a mod that adds supplies and I think the installer even says "remove BYG supplies", so one can guess which mod adds those.

I would suggest not playing with those mods for the first time on SS, as they are desinged to give experienced players more of a challenge.

However, if you are feeling ambitious:

BYGs GR 3 basically makes the game harder the larger your faction gets by allowing only the Prince, King, and one selected other general recruit and maintain armies in the late game.

RR increases the training time and pool sizes of most units. It also adds to the Battle AI I believe.

Permanent arrow is only if your a hardcore kind of guy and would like to see your arrows stay in the ground after firing.

Remove supply removes the supply feature from SS 6.0. It is basically a feature that lowers your armies effectiveness the longer they are out of the settlements.

BYG and RR are designed to work in tandem together to create a more challenging campaign.

More info about these can be obtained:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=162997 -RR
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=106060 -BYG

*Note if you install BYGs 3, the game is basically unplayable unless you download a fix from his thread

    Hope that clears things up

When 6.1 was released several sub mods were popular, so KK decided to provide them as options on the install. However some of these have been updated since then, so I would check out the sub-mods forum for the latest version.

Real Combat: A version of this is included in SS, you will find that combat values have been reduced, as serious effort has been made to portray each weapon, its damage, range etc acurrately. The full sub mod includes an era system (hence weapon development is tied to events)

BYG III: a version of II is included in the traits you encounter, as SS has a supplies system for armies. The new version imposes serval other limits on you recruitment, so I would check the forum for full details.

Permanent Arrows: Means they do not disappear from the battlefield. This places a strain on the graphics of some systems, so I would only choice it if you have a high spec machine.

    Supplies: you guessed it

If you do install something, you can remove it by installing 6.1 again and not checking the box.

Personally I like RR and RC (full mod) but the sub forum is now full of all kinds of stuff, so have a peak and ask questions, plenty of friendly people to answer.

:hmmm:Some people type faster than me.

is this switching real combat and bygIII supposed to be saved game compatible? I initially installed both of them, but now i just want to have real combat installed. so I did what you said and install the 6.1 patch and unchecked bygIII, but im still able to load the game that i had when bygIII was installed, which makes me think i was not able to uninstall bygIII. Is there a way to check if i have successfully uninstalled bygIII?

BYGIII has a different traits file and campaign script, but that will not stop you reloading the saved game, although it will be messed up and characters have wierd traits. Check for a trait called Ovcon in the traits file, if its there you still have BYG III.
