    Default Modding squalor/public order

    I've been playing Invasio Barbarorum for BI, and I don't like that , because all of the settlements are so huge and squalid, you have to keep a full stack just to keep the peace rather than doing something useful like killing Huns.

    Could someone please tell me how to do any of the following:
    - reduce the effect of squalor (eg making it accumulate 1/2 as fast or something)
    - boost the positive effect garrisoned troops have on public order
    - changed the population numbers required for city, large city, huge city etc

    cheers

    There is an xml file that governs this. I can't remember it's name (descr_settlement_mechanics.xml if I remember correctly) and I don't have it installed (yet, but I will) on this PC.

    Hmm. I'll have a look. Thanks

    What program do you use to open xml files?

    Did you unpack the game files? It should be in the main data folder if you did.

    Where you talking about Rome? In that case squalor is hardcoded.

    For Medieval 2 there's the xml file I was talking about.

    Hi
    I'm back, this time I am modding M2TW (SS to be precise)

    I was wondering if someone could clarify a couple of things before I dive in :
    Code:
          </factor>
          <factor name="SOF_DISTANCE_TO_CAPITAL">
             <pip_modifier value="0.5"/>
             <castle_modifier value="0.4"/>
             <city_modifier value="0.5"/>
             <pip_min value="0"/>
             <pip_max value="16"/>
    If I wanted to make Distance to capital penalties have less of an effect on public order, would I just lower the pip_modifier value? And does it work the same way for the rest of the things in descr_settlement_mechanics?

    cheers
