From many of the threads that I have read, people seem consider the game hard and they build up huge armies and vast sums of florins. I beat it easily on VH/VH with a daily turn economy of 5500 (average), and didn't even build up full armies. I completed around 90% of my missions, and didn't find a single hard aspect in the game! It was extremely easy to conquer my enemies, even when I was heavily outnumbered. Also, through diplomacy I managed to have several factions pay me huge sums of money, OVER AND OVER AGAIN, because they wanted a ceasefire, BUT within the next turn or two they would just attack me again, and the cycle would continue.
Another issue, the strategic aspect of the game isn't much to behold, starting formations are important, and you do have to know some basic factors about combat, but about mid-battle the fighting turns into a massive blob, unless I happen to try out a fun strategy or something. Just to enjoy the battles I sometimes just set my army to be vastly inferior to the enemy force, but most of the time I still manage to utterly destroy them! Every time if the enemy is besieging me I win because they use stupid tactics like marching their whole army behind the battering ram where my archers can just massacre half of them before they break through the gate; also another glitch I have found is that when the enemy has any siege equipment (ex: catapult, ballista, trebuchet) they continously fire it at my walls until they run out (except for the Mongols which seem to have some brains), and STILL sometimes they just stand there like fools and don't do anything which forces me to sally forth.
I play the SS 4.1 Mod for M2TW, and I am wondering if Kingdoms fixes some of these problems, such as: balancing the diplomacy, giving the AI atleast some brains when it comes to battles, etc. If not, are there any modifications that have come out that have fixed these problems and have made the game more difficult? Or am I doomed to wait till Empire TW and see if its harder/better.
