Default Intro to Christain Social Ethics

aka the name of one of my courses at Saint Joseph's University (located near/partially in Philadelphia, PA) next year. This course was required and selected for me (there are few freshmen perks), and I am a little anxious.

First off, I'm Catholic and I chose a Catholic University not because of my religion, but because this particular university is a good school w/ a decent club ice hockey team that I could play on. Most of my courses involve politics and government and history, but this course though... well, I don't really know what to expect. I've been public schooled my whole life and have honestly never taken a course in religion, so this should be interesting. I used to go to mass every weekend, but that has waned in the last few years or so.

What should I expect? The class is only once a week for 75 minutes, so no matter what, it shouldn't be too bad. Also, what do you guys think about a class like this? Would anyone here be interested/take this class willingly, etc?

Well how the class is compares on who the professor is personally I would not take a class like this since it lends itself to the kind of religious teaching that annoys me suggesting that it is impossible for atheists to have ethics.

Other religious courses would be interesting and I suppose so could this one its just a question of how it is taught.

Well its a university course, all university courses are taught from the perspective of the proffessor.

A secret to getting a good grade in these kind of university courses is to disagree with the professor, but do it with intelligence and respect. Many proffessors, if they're half decent, like to be challenged and debate.

These kinds of courses in universities perhaps, but we're talking about a cut and dry religion class in a catholic university (didn't even know those existed ). I would be surprised if the professor would appreciate a student disagreeing and debating about christian ethics...

But hey, let us know how it goes for sure! If you prove my assumptions wrong, then +rep to that professor!

There are Catholic affiliated Universities all over the place in the US, and their staff isn't all Catholic...
