Icon1 Mod Ideas - For Experienced Modders

Hi. I'm new to modding and don't have enough time to make these. I'll help with maps, pictures, and sometimes a MS3D model. All I ask for is to be credited. So, here you go:

    Narnia: Total War

    Factions:
    Narnia
    Ice (White Witch)
    Archenland
    Calormen
    Lone Islands
    Wild Lands
    Telmar
    Ettinsmoor (?)

Try to follow the storyline and keep the kids and Caspian looking like the actors.

    Heroes: Total War

    Factions:
    Knights (Heroes)
    Barbarians
    Pirates
    Dragon Warriors
    Demons
    African Raiders
    Satan Knights

Keep the map restricted to western Europe and give the Dragon Warriors dragons and the Demons werewolves, imps, and demon hounds.

I'll be happy to help anyone with their mods with maps and pictures or anyone with these. More ideas are on the way. Bye.

There already is a Narnia Total War in progress. Maybe you would like to join it....?

Sorry, like I said, I'm new so if there already is a mod being made, this isn't idea stealing. I think I can still submit pictures and maps if I can. So, feel free to drop off ideas and I'll give you the credit.

Here comes more ideas, and remember , I'll be glad to help with the little things and I only want some credit. Here you go:

    Celts: Total War

    Factions:
    Celts
    Gaul
    Brittannia
    Germania
    Iberia
    Scandinavia
    Rome
    Carthage
    Greece
    Sicily

Like Heroes: Total War, keep the map restricted to western Europe and station Carthage in Spain, the Celts south of Germania, Scandinavia in north-eastern Europe, and Greece in south-eastern Europe and give Scandinavia Berserkers instead of Germania.

    Africa: Total War

    Factions:
    Egypt
    Songhai
    Berbers
    Nok
    Zulu
    Arabia
    Europeans
    Calabar
    Yoruba

This is probably the most confusing mod so you may need to some research on these factions and keep the map restricted to Africa and Arabia and keep the time period starting at the third century.

    Persia: Total War

    Factions:
    Persia
    Babylon
    Assyria
    Egypt
    Pheonicia
    Medes
    Greece
    Macedon
    Arabia

Keep the map restricted to Greece, the Middle East, and Egypt and give many units to Persia, Greece, Babylon, Egypt, Macedon, and Assyria.

    Mycenaea: Total War

    Factions:
    Mycenaea
    Minoans
    Troy
    Dorians
    Macedon
    Thrace
    Assyria

Keep the map on Greece, Thrace, and the northern Middle East and give Mycenea, the Minoans, and Troy Greek units and maybe make the Trojan War an event, making Mycenaea and Troy more powerful than almost every other faction at the time.

That's all for now. Remember, I'm glad to help with pictures on mods. Bye.

    Spartan,

Thank you for your ideas. Although this is the correct thread for such posts I think TWC intended the poster to have an interest in bringing the idea into being by seeking to attract a team and other support - and by becoming a modder (if not already).

Modders actually have ideas already, you see. Too many indeed. Most modders are extremely busy and burdened with their own mods, or in support of various mods. They are not sitting around waiting for ideas

I am saying this because I just wanted you to know that no one is likely to act upon your ideas. In fact, after some years of modding, I have never known it to work that way. Mods get completed because the one with the idea led the mod, and learned to mod.

Don't want you to be disappointed.

Added to what MoN has already said, there's really no need to open a second thread when you could have just added this to your existing one.

Thanks for thee feedback guys and I know the mod ideas are way far off but these mods are for modders who are in a slump or just want to see what other people are thinking of. Hey and maybe, I can get a team on my side to help me out with them. Thanks anyway and watch out for the third installment. Bye.

Sorry, but I've never heard of them and the game is supposed to be based on European lore of chivalric knights and evil demons but with my own little twist. So if it's a knock off of something, I had no idea it existed.

Here's my third installment, the Way Out There edition. Here there are , but I must warn you, these ar going to be the some of the most confusing mods I'll ever post here but I'll give as much info as I can:

    Pikmin: Total War

    Factions:
Dolphin Crew (Good all around but lacks heavy calvary)/Hokotate Reinforcements
Red Tribes (Good infantry and spearmen but lacks missiles)/Spear Pokers
Yellow Tribes (Great missiles but lacks spearmen)/Heavy Javelineers
Blue Tribes (Great calvary including amphibious calvary but lacks heavy infantry)/Water Dumple Chariots
Purple Tribes (Best infantry and spearmen but lacks missiles and has almost absolutely no calvary)/Double Axemin
White Tribes (Great light calvary, missile calvary, and light infantry but lacks heavy infantry and heavy calvary)/Sheargrub Raiders

    Info:
The map is made up of the regions in Pikmin 2 and the settlements are rather towns gaurding the surrounding burrows. Each tribe has a power center like in the Crusades mod which are the Pikmins' colored onions and the S.S. Dolphin for the Dolphin Crew. The Hokotake Freighting President is like a council of nobles for the Dolphin Crew. The game's calvary is mainly comprised of Bulbmin (light calvary), Dwarf Bulborbs (heavy calvary), Water Dumples (amphibious calvary(Blue only)), Sheargrubs (camel calvary(White only)), and Bulborbs (elephants). Each tribe has only there color and type of Pikmin, except the Dolphin Crew which has access to all Pikmin types. This last part is that wood and stone are primarily the materials for weapons and armor, but the event of dicorvering steel allows access to one special unit for each faction. Plus, Spear Pokers are basically Hoplites.

    Archipelogo: Total War

This next one is completely made up, so don' t mention this in history class. Here's the story:

When the Spanish invaded Mexico, one captain decided to head west to see if he could get Indian reinforcements. His ship was caught in a violent storm and shipwrecked on a large island. The natives took him in and nursed him back to health. He thanked them and left for Mexico with a map he secretly drew. He told his tale to the Spanish and gathered an army to invade the island to gain glory and wealth. When the army left for the island a sudden storm brewed and completely destroyed the armada. Right before the captain drowned, he looked his last sight at the island that he would gain his glory, and he saw a shaman on the beach, gazing out at the destroyed armada.

After the tale of the destroyed armada reached the other islands they decided to build a great fortress on the island in the center of the archipelogo. It was called Yovo. It wasn't until a few years later that precious gems were found near Yovo, making it extremely wealthy and a valuable trading city. The Yovons, the inhabiting people, became very rich. The surrounding islands became jealous. What was a great peace now plagues the archipelogo with war. Now, the question is who will rule Yovo and the archipelogo?

Factions: (Basically the islands and the islanders who are based off of other cultures)
    Yovon (Minoans)
    Guma (Mayans)
    Fallot (Persia)
    Monheg (Sicily)
    Typaw (Zulu)
    Jaklo (Mongols)
    Susoom (Berbers)
    Eirten (Portugal)

The map is basically a large archipelogo with the 8 large islands with many smaller islands and the geology is based of the geology in which the base cultures live and each faction has unique units that no other faction in the original game. Also, Yovo must be captured to win the long campaign.

That's all for now. I can help with the little things and in return I just ask for some credit. Watch out for the next installment: the Picture edition. Bye.

It might be an idea, then, to first become familiar with what already exists. EoD I and II are hardly low-profile mods. No sense in putting forward ideas that have already come to fruition, or are in the process of so doing.

I do not think you are likely to get any takers - do a 6-month research project, complete with compiled excel files, image bank and full design notes and you are much more likely to get some positive response...though I still think unlikely to get any modders bite.

I do not think many modders are in a "slump". Modders tend to be fully engaged or in the process of retiring (which is still fully engaged btw)

What is obvious is you have quite a fertile imagination and you have reasonable writing skills, both of which can be a valuable commodity's, . I'm sure there are mods out there that could use the talents you have for writing unit descriptions or event messages. Why not put an advertisement in the classified section and see if anyone takes you on. joining a team is the best way to learn..

First, what do you mean by writing unit and event describtions? Is this basically descibing them or does this involve some sort of code?

You know, I was thinking about starting a thread for finding a team for one particular mod idea that I just can't seem to make my mind off of. Whether or not I can a team won't stop me from writing those descriptions you suggested so feel free to join if you like and there's probably going to be less ideas in the future.

Do you mind giving me a list of mod jobs, I want to know who I would need for a mod team or any other jobs that would be great for me.

Unit description = For Example ( very basic, it would be more detailed)

    Spartan hoplite:
These units are trained from infancy to be the 'Perfect' soldiers - and nothing else. They fight in a traditional manner, which can also be their downfall, as they are behind the other Greek City States when it comes to weapons technology and advances in armour.

Like I said, it's a very basic example. It doesn't require any coding skills(other people on the team will put them in the mods system), but if it is a historically based mod, you will need to either have a good knowledge of the background of the units, or to be able to research it.

If it's a fantasy mod, then you only need what you have now

Event descriptions are basically the same, but instead, obviously, you write about events that happened, for examplethe invention of the Archimedes screw, founding of a new faith etc.

Once again if it is a historically based mod, you will need to either have a good knowledge of the background of the units, or to be able to research it.

    Hope this helped,
