    Default sand + nuke = glass?

    so i know sand plus heat = glass my question is

    when they tested a nuclear bomb in the desert did some of the sand turn into glass?

    Yes, it even has a special name. Trinitite.

    They actually had to protect the remaining glass at the trinity test site because tourists had taken almost all of it.

    Well...its not like we cant make more...the middle east is filled with Sand...we can nuke Iran then well have all the Trinititie we'll need...plus we can then sell the pieces of glass to people to offset the cost of the the bombing mission...its win freakin win.....

    Supposedly there are also glassy craters in the Sahara and other large deserts where Meteorites have crashed and melted the sand.

    its the same with lightning, when lightning hits the sand it forms fulgurites (looks like glass roots)

    The lightning glass stuff is pretty cool. There was a movie where one of the characters owned a shop that sold that kind of stuff. I totally forget the movie's name right now...but in any case there were lots of examples of it.
