I think this is a important part of my research as to the cities in middle-earth, I think that each faction should have a so called "Super City".

Minas Tirith is a Super City. And so is Helms Deep. The reason is simple cities that far exceed the normal size and strength
of a city say like Edoras. Also the defenses are much stronger say like Barad-dur or Moria.

With super walls and a maxed out population? Yep. If a super city gets captured, the faction should suffer badly.
(In the case of the Elves, there are several super cities which are declining in population)

What would Helm's Deep be Rohan's super city? The only people who lived in Helm's Deep permanetly were the garrison. And Helm's Deep was a fortress, not a city. Edoras, anyone?
As for the High Elves, should their super city not be Rivendell? I know Mithlond was important but I think Rivendell was far more important. And if I was Sauron, I think Mithlond would be the last place I'd want to take. I wouldn't want to stop the Elves leaving Middle-earth
Well in Rivendell lived few hundreds of elves, but in Mithlond lived some thousands of elves. Rivendell actually wasn't so important place, it was home of knowledge and provided safe place for many creatures. Actually Sauron would have probably wanted to destroy Mithlond because he hated elves more than anything and was probably pissed off since they were able to escape to Valinor and live there happy life forever, Sauron couldn't because he was maia who had fallen to darkness. If I were Sauron I would have rather destroyed arther Mithlond than Rivendell. Thing which made Rivendell important was that Elrond lived there and he had Vilya.
Oh yeah, I agree with you that for Rohan it should be Edoras, I wrote that list in rush, now it's fixed.![]()
Ah, right I see. Then your right.Well in Rivendell lived few hundreds of elves, but in Mithlond lived some thousands of elves. Rohan is the capital and not a super city further more if you want to be like that then Minas Tirith and Barad-dur can't be Super cities because they are also fortresses and for the record in old time Osgiliath was the capital of gondor not minas tirith. I should have said super fortresses on my part but I was tired and cities was the first thing that came to mind.

Sorry I misunderstood this thing... You ment with "super cities" strong fortresses, right?![]()
Actually I don't see the point of this so-called "super cities".When I look through that list I see only capitals. So the point of this is.......
Ok,now you've lost me.Rohan is the capital of.....what?And we know that Osgiliath was the chief city in Gondor but you can't make a capital out of ruins! So could you explain this one to the stupid old half-elven and with some punctuation please?Rohan is the capital and not a super city further more if you want to be like that then Minas Tirith and Barad-dur can't be Super cities because they are also fortresses and for the record in old time Osgiliath was the capital of gondor not minas tirith. I should have said super fortresses on my part but I was tired and cities was the first thing that came to mind.
Gotta be drunk or half-asleep...the first one I think.
Varjon? Bree is a "super" city?
a super village maybe
bree is the city to take...
Glorfindel, the Lord of the House of the Golden Flower
...Glorfindel was tall and straight, his hair was of shining gold, his face fair and young and fearless and full of joy, his eyes were bright and keen, and his voice like music, on his brow sat wisdom, and in his hand was strength...
... the Elven-wise, lords of the Eldar from beyond the furthest seas. They do not fear the Ringwraiths, for those who have dwelt in the Blessed Realm live at once in both worlds, and against both the Seen and the Unseen they have great power...
He was having a lot of sex...
Anyways,, we don't need all factions to be equal. Some factions like Gondor and Isengard, will have a single city around which they revolve their economies, and other factions such as the tribal Rhun and the peaceful Eriador will have mediocre cities throughout their lands.
Someone close this thread dammit it has lived for TOO LONG! First however, answer me this. Is there a script which can downgrade walls? If, for example, I took Edoras, I'd like to exterminate the population beyond repair by crushing the walls...
