How do you view them, good or bad, and if good are you feel sympathy for the nazis too?

well if you're going to say that then you have to look at the crusades, same logic would apply there as well, no?
no teutonic knights German order Krzyzcy in Prusia
I think they were just typical of the age.
In my books, anyone that goes around converting non-believers by the sword is a prick, regardless of origin or religion. And yet, people did it all the time.
I don't quite understand what response you wish. Could you please expand on your question so we can better answer you?
there is no bond between the teutonic knights and the German Nazi's. The teutons were Prussian as stated above.
Maybe he means about the discrimanation during the crusades. I know that on the first crusade it was usual to kill most Muslims and Jews that they came across, but I'm not sure if the teutonic knights did this or not.
How do you give rep?
They never came across Muslims or Jews because they were situated in central/eastern Europe, right? Anyways, if you think about it, anyone who forcefully converts someone is comparable to a Nazi. Crusaders, Jihadists, Catholics vs Protestants. They all use a belief to unite people against others, wether its for religous reasons, or more commongly for economic reasons. Bleh.
My answer to your post is, I think the Teutonic knights were bad people but when you're playing TW as them, you kind of forget because they're such pwnage, besides, its only a game![]()

personally from subjective point of view i think the knightly orders are amazing. Obviously i don't agree with their policy of persecution and murder but in the medieval era, the sheer distances they travelled and the lengths they went to in the name of their religeons and convictions seems astounding. A testemant to the human percevierence at the very least. But it's easier to detach these things from the morality of their acts givin how long ago it was, much harder for the nazis.
Sorry, but you really think it was for their religion and convictions? Some "crusades" didn't even make it to the holy land because they stopped on the way to sack some city or another then went home.....the crusades were about standing, power and wealth with very little more. Religion is a catalyst/excuse for war, not the real reason.
To be on topic: Good/Bad is relative, it was good for their own people, bad for the enemy. It's kind of hard to answer such a brief question when there are so many factors involved. Perhaps expanding on it would help?

Man this thread never had a chance to avoid running afoul of Godwin's Law at all lol...
im so tired of people making very unacademic and naive connections between things or concepts they simply do not like, and Nazism. Ridiculous
I'm willing to wager that a Teutonic Knight would have nothing but, at the very least disdain, for a Nazi. Even if the Teutons would have loved everyone to be Christian, and even though Nazism was, shall we say, averse to Judaism, it is MUCH more complex than that.
Like people who try to blame Nazism and the entire concept of German anti-semitism on Martin Luther because of some of his later writings. That's flatout retarded. Martin Luther would have been appalled by Nazism. Sorry for going off on a tangent there lol...

Wow, with a single sentence you not only managed to cast the Teutonic Order in a downright evil light, but also offend any and all who admire them even slightly. And you pulled a Nazi reference. I envy your skills.
