some questions (about lag)

Any tips or advice how to make battles more smooth?

I have tried turning down alot of the video settings and such but i still get a little lag.

I've always gotten lag in M2:TW, and I know my computer can handle it. Which is onbe of the reason why for some reason I love R:TW a lot more.

I even like the medieval era better!

This is a simple answer.

Buy a better PC. They are actually really cheap if you buy them from the right place, such as a PC store, not FutureShop/Staples/BestBuy

If you cannot buy another PC, then turn down shadows off all the way, that helps alot.

If you've turned everything down and your still lagging, you simple need a new computer, or graphics card 7 series and 8 series(Nvidia) runs MTW good.

vegetation can also be quite laggy if you fight often in thick forests, turning this down can really help

De fragment and disable windows services and background tasks.

Instead of saying how to do that here just read this and follow what it says.

Or you could just buy a better pc or build one yourself like I did it's easy, rewarding and saves you tons of cash.

gah

it`s just annoying because i can run RTW-->SPQR with decent graphics and 8000 men on the field.

but when i get on MTW2 i can`t get over 6k troops (game limits tho) and ive turned down all grass, shades about everything

exept unit detail and animations, them i want.

i still get that annoying lag when i zoom in our out, or move the camera over all the troops.

New computer is out of the question, however much i want one

just spend a little bit on a video card that doesn't suck then. Its so worth it once you see how good everything looks.

What are your specs?

Grass also lags quite a bitt. With my 8800gt I can max everything at 1600x1200 however. it cost $230

Sorry but laptops have horrible graphics cards except for very high end ones. just be happy you can play it at all. i have a 2ghz acer with 768mb ram and 852 based intel graphics and it barely plays rtw at low. You could look on ebay for a cheap intel based rig like a 2ghz one I got for $80au then buy a cheap agp card if it doesn't have pci-e like a 7600gt then you could run Rome decently. Sorry but there's nothing you can do to make RTW run better on a laptop save for updating the drivers and see if that makes things a little better. if you want to try, download this and tell us what video card you have and ill find drivers for you. when you start it, it will be on the first screen across from "Video Card"

You still should look into getting a desktop tho parts are extremely cheap now you can get a decent mobo for $70 2gb of ram for $50 a decent card for $80 and a decent processor for $70. the most expensive thing will probably be the power supply at say $150. You don't want to get a cheap one of those believe me. If you get a bare bones system like that you can slowly upgrade it when you save up enough.

If i really wanted to dump a couple of thousand into a desktop i probably could, and i will have to see about that.

RTW i run with no problems, i am very happy with that, and i guess i can live with MTW2 the way it is.

I was talking in NOK (norwegian currency

) it`s 5 NOK for one US dollar, and prices are usually higher in Norway too.

I will think about it!

It would be nice to have a good/decent desktop as a base of operations.

Oh I didn't relize. I was putting costs in Australian dollars which are almost the same as US ones. Hope you can get a good computer soon.

$230 actually like the quote.

Mine is Australian dollars and it was the cheapest I could find. Where on earth are you getting yours that cheap? I hope it works well for you at that price.

I bought mine just a month or so ago.

Lol woops, I had 240, changed it to 230, then somehow I managed to change it back to 240 :hmmm:... Sigh I need more sleep. lol

Oh and I'm buying my card of NCIX.com, a Newegg kind of site.. for Canada.
Dirtcheap stuff on it but apparently the quality is great, so people say. I'm slowly upgrading my PC, my next purchase will be a duelcore... My single works fine, I just want Vista and frankly my single won't run it to its full potential.

Anyway a bit offtopic lol

I want to use this topic and ask where I can download some mods for my MTW2 ? I have wrote a lot of posts in the forum and people discuss their games which are in different mods. I just want to change the atmosphere of the game.
