Unit stats
Hi, just started this mod first time. Just wanted to make a Roman campaign in the original... (with Darths AI of course)
Playing vh/vh: is it normal that my hastati and principes have siuch low stats (attack melee and missile)! The warbands rip them apart easily!
comparing to the senates Hastatis, they are much better! how come?
I changed them manually now, as the Romans were some of the best fighters at that time (obviously). Is this really needed or will there be something like a reform, making them strong in a sudden step?
Edit 08.07.08; Just continued playing. The warbands rip my Hastati apart! I can't imagine this is the way meant to be, is it?

Re: Unit stats
Roman units are still the most effective infantry in Darthmod, it is just that they are balanced using "hidden" stats that are not viewable in game. The problem is that on VH battle difficulty the enemy units get +7 attack and so even Roman units will suffer if you try and slog it out head on.
As for Romas being the best fighters at the time that does not reflect reality i am afraid. In any case I always found the Romans a bit too strong for my taste in Darth mod so any increase in their stats would make them grossly overpowered. I really recommend you change the stats back otherwise you will cheat yourself out of a good campaign experience. Also if you have come to Darthmod straight from Vanilla i would suggest you play your first campaign on H/H settings to help you find your feet.
If you are still having problems i suggest you post your and enemy stacks makeup and what formation/tactics you are using, this will allow people to give more specific help, good luck.

Re: Unit stats
Well, most roman melee units (hastati, principes, legionary cohorts, etc) have "armour piercing" attribute (which really helps pwning armoured troops), "area" attribute (each hit they make hits more than one enemy), and have higher "lethality" than most units. Lethality modifies how many times the unit will hit enemies. The higher the lethality, the better for the unit.
Hope this helps you

Re: Unit stats
damn so that means pwning the gauls is actually the hardest because they have no armor but shields?
damn... btw why are principes have less stamina than hastati? i think hastati are better than principes.

Re: Unit stats
AP gives you advantage against armoured troops, but it wont give you penalty against unarmoured troops (IE when you fight gauls, its the same wether you have AP or not).
