House Tully
The Tully’s have a long history of going against the grain. Their rise to prominence was a direct result of the invasion led by Aegon and the subsequent defeat of King Harren of the Iron Islands. Edmyn Tully was the first lord of the Trident to rebel and thus was rewarded as being named the Lord Paramount of the Trident. Their house motto is “Family, Duty, Honor.”
With Lord Hoster Tully sick with old age, his firstborn son, and heir Lord Edmure Tully is now in control of the Trident. With one of his sisters married and now widowed to Eddard Stark, one can almost count on the Tully's throwing their considerable power in with the Starks and the lords of the North. Not only blood, but revenge and preservation calls for this course of action as the Lannisters have loosed the infamous Gregor Clegane to ravage the countryside that makes up Lord Tully’s land.
Will their alliance with the Starks hold the Lannister onslaught at bay? Can they hope to defeat Lord Tywin in the field and break the backbone of the power of the malicious Joffrey?
The Tully family
The Tully family is a small one, as the sick and old Huster Tully only has one son to succeed him. His two daughters are both married to lords of other great houses while Edmure himself hasn't taken a wife yet. Time is running short for Edmure. If he were to perish in the upcoming war his house would be continued by his uncle Brynden, an unmarried man in his fifties. Arranging a marriage for Edmure and making sure he procures offspring should be a priority for anyone playing with house Tully.
Edmure is a benevolent ruler who wants to protect his smallfolk from the Lannister incursions. Brynden is a knight of renown whose tactical skills will be of great use in the war.
Lord Edmure's bannermen
Among Edmure's bannermen we have Jason Mallister, lord of Seagard, the bastion against the Ironmen raids. Then there is Tytos Blackwood, lord of Raventree, a powerful house. Clement Piper, lord of Pinkmaiden, is another bannerman while his son, the hotheaded Marq Piper, is a sworn sword and personal friend of lord Edmure.
The territories of the Tully's
The Riverlands are traditionally regarded as fat lands. Their fertility derives from the mighty Trident river which crisscrosses through the lands. Strategically located between the Tumblestone and the Red Fork, Riverrun is the dominant castle in the Riverlands, dwarfed only by Harrenhal. Riverrun is the seat of house Tully and the main focus of the attacks of house Lannister. A lot of bloody battles will be fought before the gates of this castle.
Harrenhal is the largest of all strongholds in Westeros and guards the eastern borders of the Riverlands. In the north you have Seagard, the only castle with a port. Raventree is safely located between Harrenhal and Pinkmaiden. The latter one is part of the western border and will be one of the first keeps that will feel the fury of house Lannister.
Neighbouring regions
In the north there is the Twins, ruled by the crooked lord Frey. Its strategic importance is immense as it controls one of the two crossings over the Green Fork. The other one is near Saltpans. Yet house Tully need not to fear an invasion from that direction for there are only allied northmen in that direction. To the east of Seagard there is Fairmarket, an average-sized town located between the Green Fork and Blue Fork. Other small towns further downstreams are Saltpans and Maidenpool. Maidenpool is close to Duskendale, which is controlled by the cruel king Joffrey and may be the target of his expansion as well. To the south of Pinkmaiden there is Stoney Sept, a fairly large town. To the west the walls of Golden Tooth, a Lannister stronghold, loom menacingly.
The initial set-up
When the mod begins Edmure has just lost a considerable force in the Battle of Golden Tooth. The main host is now in Riverrun while the other castles have decent garrisons. Near Golden Tooth several large Lannister armies led by lord Tywin Lannister, Ser Addam Marbrand and Ser Jaime Lannister threaten to invade the Riverlands while Ser Gregor Clegane is already pillaging near Raventree.
The army of House Tully
House Tully has one of the best unit rosters of all factions. They can field a variety of forces that can counter anything the enemy throws at them. Decent crossbowmen, excellent Riverland archers, cheap run-of-the-mill militias, pikemen grunts, dismounted knights supplemented with the dangerous dismounted Riverland nobles, strong heavy horse, ... yes, it's good to play with house Tully.
