WONT LET ME TURN OFF BANNERS

Info:I have Windows Vista, Have installed SS 6.1 and Regions and Provinces mod

I've tried this on Administrator as well as normal account

Ok, i've gotten as far as to opening the Notepad.
It atcually said showbanners = 0, but their still turned on. I tried changing it to 1, but when I saved it dosen't let me, even if I changethe type of file e.t.c

What do I do?
The only theory I have is that it's got something to do with the Regions and Provinces mod, cos they mentioned something about a CFG file and banners when I installed it. Someone help????

C:\Program Files\SEGA\Stainless Steel\mods\Stainless_Steel_6 is where you will find their Stainless Steel Kingdoms.cfg. You change that one. In Vista, it is likely in the virtual store folder. I have XP.

That error usually means that the file is set to read-only.

And Ishron is correct, that's not the correct cfg to modify for SS. If you get the same error, you will have to turn off the read-only attribute on the file.

From the looks of Stainless Steel's config file, theirs is set up for scripts and modded hotseat campaign. It also uses the medieval2.preferences.cfg in the Medieval folder for everything eles including banners. In the [video] section you will find or add show_banners = 1. Just change the 1 to 0.

Regions and Provinces mod versions 2.3 and 2.4 are not compatible with Stainless Steel 6 as both overwrite banners, faction symbols, and animation folders just to name a few. You can have one on a copy of Medieval but not both.

Just add the [video] line in right at the bottom then it in then.

And when ur saving just save it to ur desktop and then cut and paste it back in to where it should be and override ur old .cfg file
