in other words, the age old question: why am i here?
why was i 'created'? for those of you who believe in a creator.
is there a purpose to it all?
why is life?

you are gathering information that will be necessary for the eventual creation of god--- gods purposes cannot be fathomed but be assured it goes on until nothing matters and you may as well be staring into the darkness; because everything is black when you see the light.
Why do you think we are here? Could such a question really have one answer?
I think you found your answer in your question, why am I here.
Beware of seeking answers to questions that might not have actual answers.
By all means, ask questions, but don't always expect an answer, because it's very easy to make up your own answers to questions, and they're not always true.
aye true
good responses guys
i mean, what's the point of studying and working hard jsut to get a 9-5 boring as job for the next 50 years so u can retire and tyr not to suffer the indignity of dying before going to the dunny?
And once you are no longer capable of enjoying it, because your body has become too enfeebled, or because you are in continual pain, or your mind is rotting with age, then that purpose is frustrated and the logical course is to take your own life honourably.
Yet people don't do that - they cling to the last desperate shreds their pitiable, miserable diseased, age-withered, exhausted, shivering existence until they are finally broken upon the wheel of the world in absolute debasement and dishonour.
You're wrong. The real purpose of living is living. That's it - the brute, dumb, animal fact of the chemical life-processes continuing. Shorn of all meaning. Pointless. Empty.
You know this in your heart. There is no escape.

Well obviously.I think the OP was looking for a different reason, though, Some sort of justification, so I gave him the best that I could.
Also, just to play a bit of devil's advocate here, you do realize that suicide rates are very high among the (white male at least) elderly, yes?

The Duke of Dunwich and surrounding fiefdom
For any who are interested by my FF on occurrences in Rhun and beyond; I have begun a new project (not because the old one is finished, just opening more room for ideas) about one of the minor characters, Rankal. It is in the Third Age AAR index and here is the link http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=376994
No point. You live and die, and have nothing left to be celebrated or even remembered. It's no better than the life of an ant or a monkey, really sad

You purpose in life is to be the best servant to the corporate machine you can. I recommend you embrace the mundane and mechanical process of modern life and enjoy it to the best of your abilities.
I think I can appreciate. Not being pox scarred. Not working from dawn to dusk. Not living in a hovel. TV. Food of all kinds that is affordable. Internet porn and its influence on high school girls. Any book I can imagine. Hygiene. A society that pretty much leaves me alone while providing everything.
Taxes that only suck a little.
Ah to live in this happy age, in these happy countries. We are so bloody lucky we have no idea.
Yes, but look at our high death rate.![]()
