Default recruitment issue - what is the right fix? how can I check?

Ok so I understand that it was a very very great mod, way too great. But it is just tooo great for me to comprehend it. It starts with the recruiting issues and and sorts of mod and fixes that I shourd updates and I cannot keep up with the right one.

First I got the stainless steel 6.0 part 1 and part 2 both installed.
Then I got the Stainless steel patch 6.1 installed and I did choose Byg's Grim Reallity III, Real Combat&Real Recruitment, and Permanent arrows.

But latter I recognise the issue with unable to recruit high level units. So I go on to look at the updates on the two websites.:
    1. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=162997
so this page has an attachment: RR and SSTC for SS6.1.zip , so I tried it.
    2. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=106060
this page also has an attachment and says that I should install this fix IF I HAD STAINLESS STEEL PATCH 6.1 WITH BGRIII. The fix is here: data.zip.

so after installed the file in data.zip. I swear I got it in the right place. I continue with my ongoing campaign and still see that I have 9 turn for the next available feudal knight .

so what is the right fix for this.
how can I check my ZEAL or other things to be sure the fix actually works and I just crew up with my generals???

You have already posted this in the main forum. Two threads asking exactly the same thing isn't necessary

ha ha ha guess youve been scolded by no less than the moderator himself my friend, dont worry little monster your not the only one with the same problem and most are still looking for an answer, as for me i dont use bgyIII and rr no more, quite fun back then but had CTDs, the problem is you cannot recruit any units better than a peasant until you reach the right historically correct(or so they say..)time frame.. and even so sometimes it just doesnt work, men im already past gunpowder age and not even a mangronel can be recruited all grayed!!!

i recommend SSTC, crimson and genrals.. now if you really want to be historic on your units well its easy... just dont recruit units above peasants until 1200AD!!! use mercinaries for a while

to Ceasar... good day to you sir just an advice nothing more

littlemonster: after you install data.zip you need to restart your campaign. Also, the issue with greyed-out units not counting down is nothing to do with RR.

All these things are already in the instructions, but I have put them all together into a single, hopefully helpful, Troubleshooter.

    Troubleshooter
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Q: I have installed the update data.zip correctly & started a new campaign. Are there any known issues with BGRIII?

A: No, every issue reported so far has been due to incorrect installation. Other than that I often update the game playing instructions whenever I hear of multiple users confusing errors with features, which is understandable in such a complex game. Even I need to check the instructions once in a while.

Q: I have read all the game instructions, but my Faction Leader still cannot recruit any good units, why?

    A:
    1) You did not install the data.zip (at the bottom of this post).
    2) You did not start a new campaign after installing the data.zip.
    3) You did not install the data.zip into the correct stainless_steel_6 folder (watch out for old versions' folders).

Q: Why are some of my recruitment unit cards greyed out?
Q: Why don't the number of turns until unit available numbers count down?

A: Whenever BGRIII suspends production of any unit type you will see the unit card in the recruitment greyed out. The number of turns remaining before recruitment will not now improve until the conditions for recruitment are again suitable.

Within a turn of starting your campaign you will see:

Effects on recruitment are announced in the faction announcements scroll,

King's Orders affecting recruitment are announced and in his traits list,

General's received orders and other effects on his recruitment are listed in his own traits list,

Generals have a summary trait for quick viewing of recruitment ability, e.g. "Minimal Recruitment Ability" tells you that he will only be able to recruit basic and militia units. There is also an "Average Recruitment" indicator and a "Full Recruitment" indicator. If your generals do not have one of these trait levels within a couple of turns of starting your campaign then you do not have the update data.zip installed.

(See instructions here for the various recruitment effects which are dependent on religion and faction zeal, population/army size ratio, the orders and rank of the general governing, factionwide orders issued by the king, lack of supplies etc)
