    @Dr H - nice work.

    These look great....obviously the textures on individual weapons will get updated by me / Leif. Not wanting to throw a spanner in the works or anything but to fit everything in I've had to move the ring around slightly and make it a little smaller, so you'll need to do a little UV remapping....sorry - I tried to avoid this but there was really no way. Don't forget I've got the Pugio model sorted...you can see the layout at the top right - I've mapped the ring and the circular bit at the bottom of the scabbard seperately to allow some variations in the size of this. I'd suggest not using the Pugio ring (top right) for the gladius scabbard as this will sometimes be a steel / silvered colour rahter than brass, but I guess you could copy the texture of that down to where the other ring is and colour it up, or even have them side by side.

    I actually got a decent wood texture going, re uvww'd some of the swords too. Ill put in my little edits on how I laid out the handle. shouldn't really change anything. Also changed the map to show the brass plate where the pommel meets the blade too.

    What about the Mainz scabbards where there is decoration all the way down? These ones look a little more like Pompeii scabbards?

    Type D Imperial Italic - just a question before we go too far with these...are we happy with this degree of shine and gloss? it'll be difficult to change easily at a later stage. I still need to add the carrying handle to the back of this and the Type G

    Tone:

    Any texturing I do is just for UVW/ fitting purposes. The scabbards will all be done for each unit on it's skin anyways. I may be tweaking your skin a bit, layout "shouldn't" change, gotta see if you moved anything...

    AH, you moved the blade..... This could take a bit, as I did something a bit different on laying out the hilt.

    Tone, could you post your layout, with alpha, for the early imperial legion, so I can start re-doing my weapons?

    Here's my edit of your skin:

    And mine of the Polybian cohort. Didn't touch the Triarii, so not sure about that one.

    The only thing I see is his lips have something on them, and like tone said, I think the helmet and shield need some shine. The greaves too.

    The shield as it was gilded over with a thin layer (like Reynold wrap tin foil I guess) so it would be very shiny. Elite phalangites always seem to have that "shiny shield" description about them.

    Silver should be by far the most prevalent color on the shield as well, so I'm thinking that it needs next to no gold, as the gold and bronze shields were a different class of phalangite.

    ive got no problem with that, it looks fantastic, my only jab would be to maybe take your new scale texture(which id like to have btw ) and replace the old one on the cheaks and neck guard.

    jeeze your output is insane!

    Looking great....any chance you could add a bit more shine to the shield and helmet? With helmet I tend to use the dodge too in a strip down the front and the back and a strip at the sides. With the shield you could darken the lower part and put some shine on in a strip down from the middle of the top to the centre.

    @Burn - here's a zip file with the velite, triarii and early imperial legionary as .tga files
