I think it depends on what your computer can handle.
and what your settings are of couse not to mention that people might have different opinions on when a battle becomes unhandable.
I only have 1 gig RAM vista laptop and have managed single player battles with 4 armies of 20 units at huge - so say 20x120x4=nearly 10,000 troops.
However sieges and river battles have crashed with far fewer units -particularly when a cutscene comes up and I am running at the 6x normal speed.
These battles can also drag on for ages in huge as with nowhere to go the units will just keep fighting on the bridge or square getting more and more exhausted and doing less and less damage to each other - no fun at all.

Frankly, I do not believe you.I only have 1 gig RAM vista laptop and have managed single player battles with 4 armies of 20 units at huge - so say 20x120x4=nearly 10,000 troops.
You need 1GB of ram to Run vista alone, LET alone a 10'000 man battle.
I'm running 2GB ram on XP and I can max around 6000 without FPS Loss.
You definitely would be below 15 FPS, which I find unplayable.
Post a screenshot of your FPS and men on the battlefield and I will believe you![]()

All depends on your system as stated prior.....
We run 4v4's online..... with some players just not having the best PC's or connections. And usually even with the worst of everything, as long as the unit count is below 5000, they run fine.
Personally if I reduce my graphics settings I can run 6000 to 7000 without any trouble.
But I have a older PC too........ the new super computers I would hope, would perform better.
All in the machine..... or for multi-player, machines. In multi-player it's a weakest link kinda thing.

my comps got 2.6 quad core proccesser, 4gb's of ram and two graphic cards and even then the biggest battles get a little choppy like 10000 men +...
Sounds about right, however; ending processes within the TaskManager menu and doing some tweaks to your Vista/Xp files can help you run stuffs faster.my comps got 2.6 quad core proccesser, 4gb's of ram and two graphic cards and even then the biggest battles get a little choppy like 10000 men +...
Also, do you overclock?

We could sit here all day and argue, I suggest you get another gig, you will see a huge performance increase, hell 1 extra gig is only like 20$ these days.Originally Posted by Wheelchair![]()

Ummm no you don't I dont even have a gig of RAM and I run Vista Home Premium.
PS: You shouldn't have vista lol
This is not a tech discussion thread..for the most part so yeah I'm just saying it would be more efficient with more ram.
I was emphasizing the requirements for the OS compared to the requirements for the 10'000 man battles.
Overclocking involves going into your system, before your OS Starts up, and increasing your MHZ of your Video card, Processors, or Ram.Can i ask what overclocking is?
So you buy a duelcore PC, the processors are 3.0GHZ, a good number, but you want more! You overclock the cores to 3.7, which greatly increase its power.
However; doing this without proper ventilation will melt your PC, lol, the cores simply get to hot.

It depends on which computer I'm playing on. The one here can handle only around 4000 men on the field (I haven't tested the computer at my dad's but it is far better than this one and I would presume it could handle about double).
The biggest I've done is around 8000 and didn't have a problem. I'll have to try more.
The thing that does cause a little hiccup here and there is flaming arrows at night zoomed out! The lighting effects can eat you alive with a lot of troops.
ah, i see my mate always goes on about the importance of a lots of large fans and i can see why, can you imagine if your P.C melted lol
I have my room a cooler right now... and I wear winter clothes sometimes... In summer! lol.
Until i a get a new fan for my PC anyway.![]()

4000-6000
well my comp has the 06(maybe 07) nvidia grapic carg and 1 gig hraddrive i can do 5900 in abt 20 ffps but the thing goes red at 4500
Energy = Mass * Charge squared
All depends on what kind of computer you have.
I have a Nvidia6200LE (128mb), 1GB RAM and 2.6GHZ DualCore.
I can get about 4000 troops. I play on Low (except vegetation, I have that on Highest, I just cant stand it on Lowest) with everything turned off except Bloom.
