This pops out........

When I'm installing a mod for MTW2, this line always pops out; "no previous version of total war installed", its not exactly the line but thats what the message means, i dnt know what to do

, I played almost every faction in vanilla I still wanna play total war but i want a different experience, hope u guys have the answers

Just a couple quick questions to help troubleshoot:

1. Was this your first time doing the install?

2. Do you have any other mods installed? (or have you un-installed any mods?)

3. What version of MTW2 are you running?

4. Have you tried re-installing MTW2 and trying again?

I did a forum search on your behalf and also couldn't turn anything up. Seems strange though!

Check the mod to see which version it requires. Many mods now require Kingdoms. If you are trying to install a Kingdoms mod on old M2TW, you will get that message.

tnx I'm gonna try those

...yeah i installed a mod, its the 3.2 version of stainless steel, i tried opening it w/ out 1.2 v (which is the reqirement)and, yeah, the stainless steel crashed but and I tried installing the 1.2 v patch this time, the problem is, it sez the same message; "no previous version of total war installed"

...MTW2 is the only game i play in our computer thats why i desperately needed help to install mods so the game dont worn out...darn

btw...stainless steel is in a separate icon is it not?

Are you running Vista? What version of M2TW-dvd, Gold, download?

Stainless Steel is a separate icon with the 6.0 & 6.1 patch releases.

Open up MTW2 and Click on Options. Look in the upper right corner to check out your current version.

As irishron said, if you have the Gold edition of MTW2 then you only need to patch kingdoms to 1.5.

my MTW2 is a download

, i only installed the 3.2 stainless steel not the 6.0 version. And yeah i'm running vista, the current version of my total war is version 1.0.0.0. thats the info.

I don't know where you got Stainless Steel 3.2 because the oldest one on Stainless Steel's forum is 4.1. Being as close as they are version wise, 3.2 also requires M2TW version 1.2. You will have to update to play Stainless Steel.

but then, i can't update to 1.2 coz of that darn message thingy that pops out, it what sould i do? remove the 3.2 stainless steel?

Yes remove Stainless and try to update to 1.2. If it will not let you, you will have to totally uninstall the game and a fresh install, patch to 1.2, then stainless.
