same thing-ish happened to me with vista. check to see if the files are read-only
to do that (just in case you dont know) right click on the txt file and go to properties then uncheck the read-only box
vista seems to not like altering of the stuff in the C drive, so i installed it a separate folder in my documents. no problems there at all

so i have uninstall and reinstall again. M2TW is a B***h to install.
you dont have to if the read-only thing didnt work, but if it didnt work, then yeah, you would probably have to reinstall or try moving the folder somewhere else, which might make your computer explode due to raging fury![]()

How about copying the files that I have to modify on my desktop the bring them back after i finish.
that would probably work, except i dont know if vista would accept the files back
never mind i tried it out and it worked, nice job. wait are you an administrator on your computer or not?

sweet, then pulling otu the files, editing, then putting them back in should work for you, but you have a crap-load of "continue"s and "Are you sure?"s to go through

I know a solution. Throw vista in the bin, don't be a wuss and install linux. Vista suck, and are proof that anyone with enough power (Bill Gates) can sell expensive rubbish to us, and we'll buy it no matter what, just because everyone does. I have vista at work (not my choice), and apart from superficial things that offer no real benefit, they have nothing extra to justify their existence.
Be what you want to be seeing in the world.
I found the solution.
I had to authorized myself full control of the Sega folder. It works
As a user you only get read authorization even if you are an administrator.
The having to spend hours working out how to become a real administrator so you can change program files is by far my biggest gripe about Vista.
WTF were they thinking?
probably. but also security. and it works well, no matter what people say. to those linuxers: you don't mess around in the bin folder, do you? so don't complain if vista complains when you do. and besides, does m2tw run on linux?
the problem are the software developers who develop lousy software. xp actually had good security. only most software (including m2tw) is sloppy and crappy programming. what do my save games do in a system folder? please tell me. they ought to be in my home directory. because ofprogramming like that, everybody works as admin. because of that, vista needed to make life hard for admins.
don't always blame bill. that's too easy.
ps for those using vista and want to have a look at your save games and screen shots: look in your home folder, make hidden folders visible, and look for a folder called "Virtual Store". everything that programs want to save where they are not allowed to is there. go for Programs/Sega/...
"VirtualStore" is in one of the hidden folders in your home directory, but i can't remember which and i can't look it up right now, sorry; might be AppData/local

Its not so much the idea of forcing you to make a conscious set of choices to become the administrator, as that it has a bogus administrator status that doesn't let you act as an administrator at all - and that to find out how to become the true administrator you have to spend hours on google search as there is nothing useful in Vista help.
This is just perverse - can't see how anyone benefits - unless they believe that stopping everyone who is not a hard-core techie from accessing program files will somehow reduce their customer support costs - which given how automated and useless MS customer service is seems unlikely.
Vista ruuules! .... Im not a bill gates fanboy, I promise.
Just copy the text file to your desktop then modify it there then save it then you can move it back without any problems.
ive installed it to a separate folder and ti works fine, but for some mods that use an installer, you have to redirect it as it only goes to the default location

Over writing. files in vista
Hi this may be of use if like me you did not find the information easy to find
to change .cfg files with Note pad in Vista you have to right click on Note pad and use the open as administrator option.
this will allow you to over write existing files without am error message
hope this helps.
