What does losing a Legionary Eagles do?

I'm playing IJ, but I guess it's the same for all the IBFD mods.

Is loosing a Legionary Eagle something that has an effect, or what will happen?

It certainly will shatter your Roman pride . I don't think though it has any effect in the game, it is just a role playing thing. I could be wrong of course (that would not be the first time).

The loss of a Legionary Eagle will show negatively on that Roman general who lost it in a battle in his character traits..loss of leadership. The loss of the Legionary Eagle is a disgraceful event but can be redeemed(in his traits) by that general if he gets it back. The barbarian general who captures a Legionary Eagle gets the trait, ''The Eagle taker''(something like that) and gets leadership increased abilities. The Eagle is taking to the enemies nearest city and specifically is mentioned where in a event card after the battle.

I always got that event card and didnt know if that meant something or not.
So it has an effect on generals trailts.

This trait also applies to Romans but only effects named characters. Losers's influence decreases I believe if the eagles get captured. I have never managed to regain eagles that have been lost, no matter if I capture settlement where eagles is taken to.

Me too. At least I never got the message "Legionary eagle retaken", or something like that.
Could it be that you just dont get a message when you retake it.
Or does some character take the eagle with him?
