to turn off console? (~)

I have this bad habbit, that started when I once got bored of RTW, to cheat, and it is ruining my campaign Though I try not to, I usually end up using that cheat that automatically wins battles when like 2 or more of my settlements are being besieged at the same time.

This is not how I want to play the game! If the settlements will fall, then they simply weren't fortified enough and that's the price I have to pay (just like it happened in the middle ages.)

I'll try that, even though I doubt it'll work cause 1. It seems to be multiplayer only and 2. isnt "0" usually "no"? Might be me just being stupid

Trust me, I've tried that but for some reason it keeps coming back ^^

I seriously hate cheating, it ruins the game, but since I played RTW waaay too much it became boring and tried out cheats. bah.
Whats worse is that the same cheats are back in M2TW (GREAT game, still playing it) and that they are so easy to memorize (add-blablaspoiler etc)

Thats the best way to do it, because if you cant stop yourself pressing it, you might just go changing the file settings like some other people have suggested. Just try stop yourself, pinch your nipples, I dont know..

You could open your preferences folder, and add disable_console = 1 or disable_console = true under [game], but I have no idea if this works. I can't test it now, as my CDs are screwing with me so that I can play only the Kingdoms campaigns.

Edit: The line gets removed as soon as I run M2TW. Maybe this has something to do with Windows Vista which I am using?

Enable Read Only. But yeah, I was addicted to cheats before, but I have rehabilitated, and now I only use it when it prevents ruining the game.

Enabled read only, that solved the problem of my system resetting the line. Though it didnt solve the main issue: The console

you could try making the file read only so the line doesn't get deleted and if it still doesn't work try moving the disable console into a couple different categories before giving up

the line has to read
disable_console = 1
Zero equals NO
One equals YES
Disable the console? Yes.

It is initially for the hotseat mode, so no idea if it works in a regular game. Maybe under [misc] or [game]
