... had issues with their knights? Not as in bug problems, rather their bone-headed stubbornness? Just about every time I bring some of the chumps into battle, their foolish, glory-seeking urges send them charging off in classic high-style, pennons flapping, thundering hooves, blah blah blah.

Right into spearmen...

I like my knights. They're right powerful they are, but they can be quite a pain. If I have to phrase it as question, I guess; do anyone of you have tips for controlling them before they leave me completely buggered?

True, yes, but not even my foot knights are as overeager as they are. Feudal Knights, High Noble Knights, Mounted Nobleman, etc., all have this tendency to go charging off without a second thought. Foot Knights, Slavic Warbands, Vikings, none of those folks seem to have such odd ideas...

I guess this could be a compliment at the same time; as in no other version, vanilla or otherwise, have I seen an 'charge without orders' unit do just that.

And this is mainly an AI tweak. What will you do, if you see AI knights standing around and doing nothing? If you have still capable spearmen you will pierce them down from all sides, won't you? Or, if you have x-bowmen or strong archers. In Chiv you have to count with their own AI activity. It's a feature, not an issue.

And if you wanna decrease the effect for your own knights, then keep them away from the battle

or put them on guard mode might help you a bit.

Overall, did you considered already the mod title? Yes, you did "... glory-seeking ..." lol

Btw., i never experienced the drastic effect that you describe above (as they would do their complete own thing, not anymore steerable), i'm always able to steer them perfectly.

Lost in translation I must presume. It's all in the adjectives. Let me rephrase: it's not so much that their out of control, it's more along the lines of that they're hard to control. I point them in one direction, such as a useful flanking maneuver, but oh-ho! they spotted a set of peasants five hundred yards behind the battle line.

PS- Please, just in case, don't think I'm trying to be disparaging in anyway.

I hope you have fun with Chiv, that's the most important goal

If somebody would have concrete ideas (coding-wise) to improve the knights-behaviour to the better under all considerations (AI), then i'll be very thankful.
