No question about it, doping-America will win this.![]()
psh...dont be so confident that China's total medal # isn't even in the top 2.
maybe gold medal, but Russia and US traditionally dominate the number of medals.

2004 Summer Olympics gold medal count
1 United States 36
2 China 32
3 Russia 27
2000 Summer Olympics gold medal count
1 United States 37
2 Russia 32
3 China 28
If China doesn't finish in the top 2 - given that they are playing at home -, I will eat my hat and broadcast it via webcam.
Well it won't be us, unless there is a Drug & Steroid event.
Pretty much a given top 3 will Russia, US, China though in what order who knows. Home field advantage by China is definitely going to spark their guys to push for mustering that little extra. And sheesh cant we leave the nationalistic nonsense out of this? Doping, other drug usage is a WORLD issue.
All I care about are a few events, medal counts? Meh....... not my cup of tea.
BasketBall is #1 concern,USA NEEDS TO win.
Swimming(Michael Phelps events) is good to.
Could some one list all the events?
Russia of course. they always win a lot of medals.
Foreign Languages
USA Basketball will rule the world once again. When our star players care enough to play, we always win. Argentina's team is the only reasonable threat to USA dominance, and even thats a reach.
I found an interestnig blog entry from today at BBC from James Reynolds.
Chinese authorities "allowed" protests though by designating places for demonstrations at parks outside the city.China has made it clear that it will actively enforce this rule during the Beijing Games. The organisers say that fans won't be able to take in any banners or leaflets which contain political, religious, racial, commercial, military, or other messages. This ban even includes traditional "Go China" banners (the logic being that cheering for China alone would count as political propaganda).
LMAO.
I would say from China's viewpoint it's pretty smart. Their designated areas are probably far away from the events themselves, and they can say they did allow freedom of speech and whatnot. Also, you won't be seeing a see of "Free Tibet" signs when watching the Olympics.
wrong topic !
1. USA
2. Germany
3. China (becaouse of doping)
4. Russia
5. UK
