Default Judaism and the Order of Rebirth

Now I've been reading the book's Knights of the Black and White and Standard of Honour by Jack Whyte. I know not to take it all as fact as Jack Whyte has often been described as a historical freemason.
But, the Jewish line runs through the mother dosen't it (if your mum's Jewish andf your dad's not, your still Jewish, but not vise versa)- corect me if I'm wrong. And most of the books in which the Order of Rebirth (the secret order whithin the Templars) claim to be Jews, the descendants from Jesus's cult all that e.t.c the line of being a member runs through the father. Shouldn't it be through the mother?

Also, what are your view on certain books claiming the Order of Rebirth to be desendants of Jews who escaped from Jerusalem when the Romans attacked it and settled in Gaul. A load of crap or based on fact? I don't know enough to put my own opinion, I've only read a few 'freemason' books on the matter.

Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place.

I would say anything you hear or read is a load of crap, just as a good starting point. Your more likely to arrive at a genuine conclusion if you view it with skepticism.

It means according to the laws that were decided in judaism(Literally translated, The path). Most of it was decided in the tanach and back in babylon, Though its been extensively changed since then

That is its not neccasarily a decision from the bible itself. many different steams of judaism have different laws.
