    Here are some of mine.

Nothing better depicts the might of Roman arms than this image of Caesar victorious in Gaul.

Frederick's troops at Hohenfriedberg. The feel of the rush and anticipation of combat is well presented here by Carl Rochling.

This one pretty much reveals the savagery and ferocity of the fighting at Badajoz.

    What are some of yours?

Nothing demonstrates the futility of war better than Goya's Third of May 1808.

Racer X: It's hard to forget that image. Crude, but the message is immediate. Goya was a real master - portraits, bucolic settings, social statements, horror images, the man could do it all.

Indeed, he was brilliant. I actually recently performed a speech about him for my art history course.

Taxandrius: I've always liked Churms' artwork. That image is a particular favorite of mine. He should have a book on his work published.

Pallantides: Where do those images come from?
