    Default Uprisings

I've added a fairly simple script for slave uprisings in Italy. There were three so-called Servile Wars in the Republican period. I decided not to try to model any particular historical event, but to set a very small random chance of a slave uprising every turn (but not in the very early game when it might make survival impossible).

I'm also planning to add similar scripts for some of the notable uprisings that the Carthaginians had to deal with (the Mercenary War, and Numidian rebellions), and the Maccabees in Judea. If anyone has ideas for other uprisings that could be covered I'd like to hear them. Suggestions for units and army compositions would be useful as well.

Great great news. I am running out of "wow-s", Dime . Any new units planned in relation to these new features? Shall we expect someone called Spartakus as the slave leader? Mercenary uprising could be a good moment to strike Carthage as Romans (or Iberia), right?

DBH, how did you script this?
Is it the usual advisor script?

We might want to research a bit into the gladiatorial revolt triggers from vanilla imho...

Sounds pretty cool, definitely adds a layer to playing the Romans. Just curious, does public order affect the chances of such revolts being triggered? For example, a Jerusalem (or whatever the name of that Judean city was) with blue face (disillusioned) would logically be more likely to break out in revolt.

Zarax: Yes, it's the usual advisor script. Last time I checked the gladiator uprising was hard-coded and bugged in 1.5/1.6. It spawns random slave units including Yubsteb Elephants. I don't know if anyone has managed to fix it.

Magister Equitum: I will be using the historical names of some of the slave leaders, and the locations of the historical revolts, but of course they might show up at a very different times.

There will be some new units, though mostly they will be slave versions of units that are already in the game.

Quirinal: I can make public order a factor, and I think that's a good idea for the Maccabees.

Hippias & Suppanut: Both good ideas.

Indo-Hellenic rebellion for Bactria when they controlled India, which historically created many Indo-Greek Kingdoms in India during late hellenistic age before the downfall of Greco-Bactrian Kingdom). Rebel stacks should composed 10% hellenic elite units(leaders) and 20% Indian Elite units(their minions), while the rest is basic Indian units especially Indian Longbowmen which more than half of them with a few levy phalangites as supported anvil and Indian Spearmen and Indian Cavalry as support(fodders).

What about a Sicilian uprising (for Rome). It would have to be a very large one (maybe 2-3 rebel stacks), to reflect Sextus Pompeius' takeover of Sicily during Octavian and Mark Antony's "Trirumvirate" (of sorts). Historically Sextus was made governor of Sicily and seperated from the rest of the republic, starving Rome by not shipping his grain there. Sort of as a revenge that his father (Pompey the Great) died.... It's an interesting idea, I don't know if I got all the facts right, but I like it.

Kara Kolyo, I believe you're talking about Sertorius. Other rebellions I can think of are the Gallic Empire and Palmyrian Empire, both broke away from the Roman Empire in the 3rd century AD and also Boudicca's Rebellion during the 1st century AD in Britain.

Boudicca might be good. Sertorius and Sextus Pompeius sound more like ideas for provincial campaigns for the Romans/Roman Rebels (though it would take a lot of work to set them up).

Kara Kolyo: I am thinking about adding scripts to spawn armies when the player invades certain regions - particularly Carthage and Rome, but perhaps Versingetorix would be a good option for when the player arrives in Avaricum.

One possible candidate for a Rebel with a cause could be Antiochus Hierax who fought against his brother Seleucus II Callicus (reigned 246-225 BCE) since 239 BCE and tried to create an independent kingdom in western Asia Minor. To achieve this goal he allied with Galatians to beat the "official" Seleucids, and fought also against Attalus of Pergamon before he was exiled to Thrace in 227 BCE.
