My farther told me a story once, about a man who lived in a valley. A great storm rose up and the river overflowed. The valley began to flood. A horseman rode by the mans small house and said to him, "Come ride with me, for your house will soon be under water." The man told him that he needed no help, for god will save him. As the waters rose the man took refuge on his roof. Two swimmers came by and called out to him, "Jump into the water. We will help you reach dry land." Again he waved them away, saying the god would protect him. As he sat perched on his chimney, thunder filled the sky, a boat came by. "Jump in," called the boatman. Again the man refused. Moments later the water swept him away and he drowned.'
The mans spirit appeared before god. The man was angry. "I believed in you and you failed me." God looked at him and said "But my son i sent you a rider, two swimmers and a boat. What more did you want?"

Parents putting their kid's health at risk due to religious beliefs happens more often than people think. Faith and Religion are great things as long as you don't actually believe in that rubbish. If you do then it's just downright dangerous.

Not exactly. They're fine as long as they don't counteract modern necessities, like medical technology, and don't endanger peoples' lives. Then it becomes downright stupid and dangerous.

Toleration is a good thing, but do not think you deserve immunity because you're religious. respecting someone is not the same as not offending someone. no offence , just something I wanted to point out.

Religion and Faith are great things? Religion, maybe, when you take with with a grain of metaphorical and mythological salt, but Faith?

Faith assumes its own conclusions (Logical Fallacy), believes impossible things without reason (Can't meet the burden of proof), defends those beliefs against all reason to the contrary (Unreasonable), so it can't help but be wrong to SOME degree to start with and any errors won't be acknowledged much less sought out or corrected, so that situation can never improve.

However wrong it already is is however wrong it forever will be, so faith offers no way to discover the real truth about anything, but it's a great way to stay wrong forever and never admit it even to yourself.

There is no way that you can possibly quantify this statement.

However, the very title of this thread contains a contradiction in terms, "Devout Christians Kill their Daughter". Devout Christians would not kill their daughter, or put their daughter at risk in any way.

No. If they were "devout Christians", they would not risk their daughter's life. As a Christian, I would never risk my children's/grandchildren's lives. It is not obvious.

You see, there's a difference between being "devout" or "pious", and being radical.

When someone I care for is ill, I always pray for them. That is being a "devout" Christian, by acknowledging God's supremacy in all. And then, I turn them over to the care of people who are trained in the medical arts, praying that God will guide their knowledge and their hands, as they work to heal that person.
