Why does the Roman faction unable to upgrade weapons and armour? i can only do so in a city somewhere in macedonia which i have just conquered. It seems like there is no point building foundry.

There must be an iron resource in the region, look at the strategical map after an iron figure, or look in the city at the income statistic.

If you look at one of your starting settlements (Arritium ?) you will find the iron resource there.Originally Posted by Frederick

in italy, arretium has iron. so you can build the smith line of buildings and you'll be able to get the upgrades.
in RS1.5a, the smithies are a little bit different. only in provinces with iron can the smithies provide the armor/weapon upgrade.

There is a patch coming out soon to fix this, and it's been noted numerous times in the bugs and issues thread.
