Xenophonia for Stainless Steel 6.1 is Ready!

Xenophonia is a M2TW mod that makes several of
the factions in the game speak their native languages,
instead of broken English, by importing samples from the
localized versions of the game into the English version.


This is a Xenophonia modification's for Stainless Stell 6.1
Only for english version game.
It works every and all mods but it does not inclue changes on sound files. I want to remember that original's work Xenophonia belongs to Mr.Beiss.This is a little contribuition for this great creation M2tw and
one of the best Modification that is Stainless Steel using amaizing Xenophonia "revivifed"

The full list of changes is as follows:

The Frenchs, Jerusalem, Knights Templar speak French.
The Germans (the Holy Roman Empire) and Teutonic Order speak German.
The Danes and Norway speak Danish Edited: (BUT IN REALITY, another GERMAN package) thanks, Barser.
The Italians (Venice, Milan, Sicily, and the Papal States) speak Italian.
The Russians, Kievan russians and the Polish speak Russian.
The Spanishs, Portugese and Aragoneses speak Spanish.


INSTRUCTIONS

(Tested only on windows XP, but reported work on Vista)

Install M2tw
install Kingdoms
install patch 1.5
install SS 6.0
install SS 6.1 patch

download this: (and only this files)
xenophonia_1E.exe
xenophonia1dang.exe,
xenophonia1italian,
Xenophonia1spanish
from:...http://hosted.filefront.com/beissman/
and this files
xenophonia1russianNew.exe
xenophonia1french.exe
xenophonia1german.exe
from:....http://hosted.filefront.com/devereau
After all this, put in your M2TW folder (not subfolders or mods subfolder)
and run xenophonia_1E.exe this will take about 15min more/less
the game rebuild sound files and in the end's processes you got this message: 'fatal grafical error' it's NORMAL, don't need to worry... Even if you don't get this error, you should quit the game as soon as you get to the main menu. Close windows.

Downolad and extract (attached file) data txt files.zip to mods\stainless_steel_6\data
(bakcup your txt files first).
Delete your events.dat and events.idx in mods\stailess_stell_6\data\sounds

You can delete the voice folder in data\sounds

Launch your Stainless Steel game
Enjoy yourself


UN-INSTALLATION

Simply cut out the files from the vanilla_backup (m2tw\data\sounds\backup)
folder back into M2TW\data\sounds. Overwrite all files when prompted
and back your data txt files replace all.

KNOWN ISSUES
If you do not want xenophonia accents in your vanilla game, just move events files in your m2tw\data\sounds\backup to m2tw\data\sounds and replace existing files. If you reinstall SS 6.1 you will have your original data text files back, and without xenophonia accents in vanilla game. One option is backup all data text files, only files
not folders. It's very easy!
Some pre-battle speaches are missing: wicht ones for spanish, italian, russian and danish.

A question, is patch 1.05 required? Can I use it for 1.03?

It should work to 1.03, but I think it is necessary to SS 6.1 run properly.

Copy data\text\ vanilla folder's contents to Stainless_steel_6\data\text) in order to get the diplomacy subtitles to work with the mod.

Attention! This will cause havoc to the ancillary system of the game if you just copy everything from vanilla's data/text. You should specify the files to be copied.

It does? I thought it meant "the speech of strangers" or something like that. In medicine it is a term for a particular speech disorder, however

No need to copy any! please check balloons for dialogue in the diplomatic body. Actually I believe that the files do not need to upgrade.

I think devereau assumed that one has a virgin vanilla installation, which is not always the case if you have used other mods or made your own changes. If you have anything previously in the text folder, install Xenophonia, and then just dump everything into the SS folder, problems will happen.

I recalled that I had made some modifications for ancillaries in my vanilla text folder, hence the problem. I still don't know exactly which files I have currently in my vanilla text folder, are from xenophonia... I don't remember what I had there before.

The files I have are:

battle events subtitles
battle events subtitles.txt.strings
diplomacy
diplomacy.txt.strings
diplomacy speech
diplomacy speech.txt.strings
export ancillaries
export ancillaries.txt.strings
export.vnvs
export.vnvs.txt.strings
FactionIntroSubTitles.txt.strings
norman prologue regions and settlement names.txt.strings
prebattle speeches subtitles

I dumped all this into SS, as instructed, and noticed that a lot of ancillary and trait descriptions were missing. Since these are governed by export ancillaries and export vnvs, I assumed that was the problem and replaced them from the backup.

Most of the other files seem like something that might go with xenophonia. Devereau, can you confirm?

Regarding the other discussion, I think xenophonia stands for foreign speaking or foreign speak. For instance, anglophone is an English speaker, francophone, a French speaker, etc.

I think there was no folder text before in the vanilla (?).
These files are complementary to the original, or, the lines were added to the discourse of the factions that have been added (danish, spanish, italian, russian, german, french), so his remplacement in SS 6 does not cause problems, problems occur only in case of new additions in SS 6, then the legends of prebattle and diploemacy are missing. I removed these instructions of the my 'manual', so I think it will not take effect, thereby avoiding confusion.
