    Default Configurated a new PC!

As the title reads, and one of grandeur, I would suppose.

I would like to hear abou your opinions about the components, especially about the compatibility, if you have any knowledge about that, but stability is also very important (though I'm quite sure to be on the safe side here).
Most of it will be purchased at Amazon, two components at Conrad.

    It is as follows:

    OS:

    Windows XP Professional

Additionaly possibly Ubuntu or some other "Amateur-linux".

    Hardware:

    Case: Apluscase CS-Curbic Miditower

    Power Supply Unit: Seasonic S12II-500

Mainboard: Asus R.O.G. Maximus Formula X38

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Box Kentsfield CPU Core 2 Quad

    RAM: Corsair TwinX 2x1GB

    GPU: 1x ZOTAC 9600GT 512MB AMP

Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster X-FI Xtreme Gamer

    Loudspeakers: Teufel Concept F 5.1

    Monitor: VIEWSONIC 19" TFT VA926

    HDDs: 2x Seagate ST3250410AS Barracuda (250 GB)

HDD Coolers: 2x Xilence passive closed

    DVD Drive: Lite-On LTD-167T

DVD Burner: Lite-On DVD Burner with Light Scrible function DVD+-R/RW/DL/LS Or so. Didn't really have a proper name.

    Mouse: Logitech MX518

    Mousepad: Razer eXactMat RZ02-00030101-R2M1

Additional notes: Keyboard wasn't necessary, as I am working with a properly working one. The "n" gets faded out, but meh.

250GB drives have been choosen due to, actually!, economical reasons. I had a high cost range, but not an unlimited one. I will thus not change my mind about purchasing bigger ones, except they can provide the same stability and endurance with only a slightly to not at all higher price.
Why I have choosen 2 instead of 1 should be rather clear.

So, do you think it shall work fine?

A high-cost range and you are sticking with that tiny graphics card? Why dod you want the unlimited hard drive space yet limited gaming power?

And please be more specific on the RAM, is it DDR2 or DDR3? If it's DDR2, and the motherboard supports it's MHz range, then it's all good.

DDR2, and yes, it does. I somehow thought I included that. I apologize.

500GB really aren't much if you're me. I'm already having serious (I have to deinstall games to have enough space! ) problems and it's just below 500GB.
I originally wanted to settle for 2x500 or 2x320, but meh. Money.
That's what clicking on "Save as..." being a well-established reflex does to you.

I've choosen that card mostly due to economical factors.
I won't be buying that much new and big games in the future time, and this one is definitely good enough for everything I own and will own in the next time.
Especially concerning the fact that I normally do not play above 1024x786/1280x1024.
Where is it tiny anyhow? In all the reviews I've read it showed considerable performance.
Maybe I just have low standards.

Then very much for for 320x2, I wouldn't recommend RAID but it's your PC.

It's your rig, and I will not fight about it, so, it's all compatible, Order it.

I've got a bigger graphics card than yours!

Mine is still big enough to play my organ to Crysis. Not that I will do that, there are better games to play and better "You know what"-material, but meh. I still COULD!

Is the Nvidia 9800 any good, btw?

P.S. Sorry for jacking your thread but since you were talking about gfx cards, I thought I'd ask .

9800GTX is one of the best graphic cards there is.

Dual GPU cards (9800GX2, Radeon HD 3870X2) and new GTX260, GTX280 and ATi HD 4870 cards are ones better than it. (or so the internets say)

Hmm, I'm thinking of getting a PC with a 9800 and some other high-end parts so that I'll be able to play E:TW, BF3 and other upcoming games.

Well I am just getting one too. Components should arrive next week.

(You should think about GTX260 too... It looks pretty good and its not insanely expensive.)

Sorry for the double post, but I rather bump it to ensure answers:

    Will my power supply suffice?
I think it should, but some ramblings here and there have made me uncertain.

500W, enough? The efficiency is about 85%.

I'm not really planning to overclock, neither will I casemod.

Should be enough, but I usually recommend 600 and up.

Check to see what your the Manufacturer of your MOBO and GFX Card say.

Stability starts at the PSU, congrats on choosing a reliable, ultra quiet PSU.

Are those the newest revision of the Barracuda 250GB? Im out of the loop, just want to make sure you get the newest revision possible. Better read write times.
