    Default General Duplication

    Hi,

I hope this is the right place to post this. If not and if removing the post, please PM me about it so that I know its gone. Thanks in advance.

I'm seeking help with this: When a general comes of age, I want to copy his name, age, traits, retinue and location if any, delete the original from the game (not kill him off, simply remove him - or atleast kill him without any notification) and then spawn a general with the same name, age, traits and retinue and in the (roughtly atleast) same location as the original.

I want to attempt to do this by scripting. Now, I know how to spawn a General but how to duplicate an existing general and remove the original at the same time I have no idea. Any help is appreciated.

May i ask as what the idea behind the script is for?

If you intend on spawning a duplicate of a general that you spawned earlier (which means you would already know all the traits, name etc etc other then location if this script fires at a later point to when the general was originally created), then it should be possible to do. But once again, generals created during play (be it by birth, marriage, adoption etc) then you have no way of knowing there name in script.

Well, I'm trying to make it so that each general's bodyguard in a faction has different stats. I need to duplicate the general so that I can do this.

The problem you mentioned is exactly the problem I have. Is there any way to record the name, traits, retinue and location of an existing general?

not that i know of. Unless the general is one you created via script there is no way of knowing that information. Unless you tied a counter to every trait and x,,y position and then use a script to call on that individual counter... I mean it IS possible, you would how ever require a ridiculous number of individual counters to reference (think how many x,y coordinates there are for example). So its just not feasible. Unless one of the more experienced modders has a better solution im sorry i couldnt be of any additional help...

In that case, is it possible to prevent the game from creating a general at the coming of age event?

    Thanks for your responses
