    Default Modding problems

Hi guys, I just bought M2: TW and, being the cheater that I am, I immediately tried to mod some of my favourite units export_descr_unit.

However, when I play the game, any edits I have made simply aren't recognised by the game and it always stays the same, even though I can clearly see the edits I've made in export_descr_unit.
It seems to draw it's information from somewhere else (another export_descr_unit?), but I searched my entire computer with Vista, even deleted the backup files I had made (for modding), but there was nothing.

I have Vista and have installed the game on a different place than Local Disk, so it isn't installed in/next to Program Files. Thought that might be important info or something.:hmmm:

I have a similar problem with Mass Effect, where I have to edit a file to gain acces to the console, but it never appears, even though I do EXACTLY what is necessary. My games simply refuse to recognise any external edits into game files or something.

    Can anyone heeeelppp meeee?

When you modified the files, did you delete the map.rwm? Might have to for it to recognize your units. If the game cannot find your file that you changed it will use the default one. Did you put the --io.file_fisrst switch in the command line? There is a whole modding forum here, another one at www.totalwar.org, and another one at www.totalwarforums.com.

Do your research on what you are trying to accomplish and there would be the place to ask your modding related questions.

hopefully you looked at a few tutorials before modding the game(I don't see what deleting map.rwm would do when editing the EDU) it sounds like the main problem is the file_first tag is missing
    also Welcome to the Forums!
