    Default The Human Race. Were next?

    We've discovered the world and colonized it, from cave living people to great skyscrapers. We've split atoms which are so small and hard to describe that only can we simplify it with maths. But we still have many problems, such as world poverty/hunger, wars and conflicting religons. But were next?

    Let's say Global Warming dosen't go to extreme's, and wipe out humans completely. In the proses no contries lanch nucluer and wipe out the earth of life. So its roughly 500 years in the future, our basic resources have begun to stabalize. Civilisation becomes rebuilt, the old cities falling into decay when the remaints of humans quickly return to farming. Another two hundred or so years and we'll have efficient power systems runing again, and phone lines, and small cities growing. A stabalized goverment is put in place, or a world democracy i n which all countries have a vote and a party is voted in eah year. So it's 2700, the world is back on it's feet, due to the deaths of the last few centuries nuculer weapons are scraped and the human race becomes ultimatley peaceful and fair. A few hundred years later we begin to expand, colonising the moon. Nuculer fission is discovered, and so colinisation rapidly expands over the solar system.
    That's my optimistic prediction.

    My not so optimistic prediction;
    The human race is badly hit by global warming in about 2050 it goes to extremes. Goverments collapse, nukes are fired. It's say 2200. Dynamic climates has began to rapidly decline, though half the world is still dangerously full of nuculer. The oceans are very unsafe. Only certain spiecies of fish and animals remain. The humans that survive, violent bands roaming the almost desert that earth has become, gangs with primitive weapons such as knives taking control of cities. Eventually after another thousand years, the cities are all dust. The world is begining to heal of radiation, resources begin to stabalize, although the world is a lot less fertile than it was. Were back to were we were about 1000bc.

    Worst case senario;
    Global warming is extreme. The gulf stream fails, plunging the world into even bigger extremes. Resources are fought over, countries declare war, nuke's are fired. All is begining to die, the last organisms clinging on to life.

    Those are my predictions. What are yours?

    Existential Risks: Analyzing Human Extinction Scenarios

    ..In general, the greatest existential risks on the time-scale of a couple of centuries or less appear to be those that derive from the activities of advanced technological civilizations. We see this by looking at the various existential risks we have listed. In each of the four categories, the top risks are engendered by our activities"

    A great conquerer arises and through skilful diplomacy and coservative military action brings the world under a single ruler. This single ruler will have full command over Earth save for a council of the most intelligent people to be found. These few advise and aid the Emperor and, should it come to it, have power to depose him and have his/her chosen Heir come to the throne.

    Earth will then build an almighty space fleet and embark on a galactic conquest and colonisation, founding the galactic Empire and the Golden Age of civilisation will come into being and exist until whatever ends such ages occurs.

    Myself I am split on the idea of a one world. I think it would only work if it was a fair democracy, or a well run Comunist. As we all know, seeing as were total war fans, empire's that are self serving and unfair tend to grow to be huge, but eventually over time cracks will grow and it will fall. I like to think (optimistically) that the only empire that will last for ever is one that is fair and kind and consiencous. I'm probably wrong.
