Experiance

Has anyone figured out how the experience works? I just wonder because I'll will have a unit that just goes on a killing spree and gets a chevron.
But then, theres those battles where I've seen do absolutely nothing and get a chevron.
I'm just wondering if anybody has any good idea how that works.

dont know exactly how it works, but noticed this:

-battle fought by the player. enemy army completely destroyed with few losses. your units will gain experience very slowly, and only those you have used
-battle auto resolved. half of enemy army escaped with enormous losses on your side. if you go on doing this all the units will gain experience, quicker than if you played the battle

then there is this: if you have a unit of experience 7 and remain 10 men on 160, when you refill that unit its experience will fall down to 2 or 3
