I just downlaoded the newest version. I took over a few cities just to check but as the greeks none of the auxillary barracks seem to have a function anymore. Have they been changed completely? fewer cities than before? or do I have a tech problem.?

The cities you're taking over are in the Hellenic area, which mean the auxilaries you can recruit are the same as your factions, Greece. So what would be the point of recruiting units that are already in your roster?
Just a note, barbs have a restricted AOR, so they can't recruit all AOR regions, and Rome can't recruit Greek AOR units. You can never recruit your native factions' AOR region units (ie: spain cannot recruit the auxilary spanish infantry)
previously the cities in turkey had been able to recruit eastern cavalry, eastern spearmen etc. The city in the middle of turkey had barbarian spearmen and cavalry etc. . With this current version I am unable to do so. My question was to discover if this had been a change in the mod itself or if something was wrong with my game. I have been unable to play due to a CTD in version 5.6.3 and this is my first download since then.
Thank you for the replies and the tips I will go back and try again and see if I missed something on the galatians.
Yes, in 5.7 compared to 5.6 and earlier versions AoRs are greatly reduced, so that each city should only have one regional AoR. However you should still be able to recruit Galatians (from the city in the middle of Turkey.)
It's of course possible that some of the AoR-units are not first-tier units (they can't be trained at your initial auxiliary barracks), you should look on the tech-tree (it's the top-most button on the lower left corner of your faction display). There you can take a look at which units you might be able to recruit in later stages.

Barend could you give us an example of an area which has lets say not level 1 auxiliaries but does have lvl 2 and lvl 3?
I was thinking about the Galatian swordsmen because of the post bij CeasarVincens, but there they start with a Auxiliary Meeting Hall. Don't know if you can train still train them with a Auxiliary Muster Field.
In some settlements (Dalmatia) I found out that it doesn't matter wich level auxiliary barracks you have, you won't be able to train other units besides the Illyrian Peltasts.

I thought that was possible?
I don't know, I've not yet captured Galatia in a campaign, but since the don't seem like first-tier units to me (swordsmen in Gaul aren't) it seemed logical to me. I'm don't know my way around the files, but maybe someone could verify this ?

The Galatian AOR is like this, as far as I know:
First level auxilary barracks: Galatian Warband (like warband for any factions)
2nd level: Galatian swordsmen + Galatian cavalry
3rd level: nothing new
I did like the AOR like it was previously (with more than one set of AOR units per city), but I remember in another thread they were saying it went over some limit, or was close to....
In my campaign right now (5.7.7) 3rd level in Galatia gives Heavy Cavalry and Noble Spearmen. It's quite a fun area to hold but a pain to develop.
What happened to the idea of experience bonus for higher level barracks in areas with only 1 tier of auxiliary units? I remember that being suggested once.
Illyria - Aux baracks produces Illyrian peltasts at level one
There is no point in building 2nd or 3rd level aux barracks in the Illyrian provinces as there are no other aux units.
If you got +1 Exp for level 2, and +2 for level 3 it would make more sense in this case.
