Learn. I didn't know how to do anything when I got this game, and now I know how to do quite a bit. Volunteer. Struggle. Figure it out.
There are lots of cool mods that never see the light of day because people don't realize that mods need workers, not watchers, or realize it but continue to watch anyway.

Just a question since I don't know much about maps. Would this map work with MTW2 Vanilla?

Yes, Bare Geomod is included with the map, so it will/should work once installed to Medieval II Total War/mods. Just run the Bat file in the mods main directory. I'm not sure if it will work if Kingdoms isn't installed.

You may want to make some further modifications however for an enjoyable game. I think all the settlements where the same type and size.

Wonderfully done, but is there a map available that doesn't expand so much east but includes Italy and the Balkans?

I just stumbled onto this. That's a nice map! Very suitable for mods set in the ancient period as well as the medieval period. Also great to see the terrain textures included. My only criticism is that the mountain ranges are blurred out and are quite rounded off and bulgy. Especially with a map of this size it should be possible to actually model the peaks and valleys. IMO that's a bit of a bummer, but not a definite deal breaker.

I am assuming he used the pic attached at the bottom of the OP(see thumbnail below) and converted the colours to grey tone for the map_heights graphic (method described here). At this resolution everything comes out rather round unless you progressively increase the RGB steps. THAT will result in steeper elevations, last not least a simple 'high_mountain' ground type will add peaks.

You will have to implement those factions yourself: Creating a World - Adding a new Faction
