    Default Voulgiers

I'm playing as France in the latest Darthmod. I have searched the forum and I didn't find anything like a definitive guide on how to use them. As I understand it they make mince meat of armoured infantry but are vulnerable to most other things, is this true? Also how should I put them to use in general.

At the time of writing my armies are made up of pikeman, aventurier, volgiers and noble knights. (Im in the late 1100s btw.)

well they way i use volgier and other similar infantry is to attack the enemy from the rear. In vanilla (which i use ) they have a slight disadvantage compared to other heavy infantry. So put them at the flanks of your army and curl them in on the enemy lines. Also remember that even though it doesn't say, halberd/polearm infantry do have a slight advantage against cavalry. Keep that in mind.

i have to admit that i am rather disappointed from the way my voulgiers perform.... no matter how i use them (spearwall and let enemy charge, charge them in already engaged infantry, wall defenders, gate defenders etc) they never seem to live up to my expectations.... they suffer too many casualties and dont inflict enough :s

on second thought i havent yet used them as shock infantry (tin-can openers) so that might work

all 2 handed weapons have a bug in vanilla (I use) so they are crap. My noble knights get butchered. Dismounted Feudal Knights however are great.
