Problem with an old error message.
So I'm playing as a Venice, having fun, and about 35 turns into the campaign, this Byzantine army is attacking my island settlement. They angry I think cause I took most of their cities.
Struggling a bit anyway as I'm at war with Hungary, Holy Roman Empire, Sicily, Milan as well.
Anyway, this byzantine island battle is stacked against me and I have to play it to keep the settlement.
But when I kill their general, bang, crash to desktop, unspecified error.
I tried again, exactly the same, as soon as the Byzantine general died, crash to desktop.
Game ran perfectly up to this point in time, its my first night battle, and in a settlement, no idea of the cause thought. Attacked from both sides aswell as his army is split in two.
It's a fresh unaltered Medieval 2 install patches to 1.2, nothing has been tinkered with or unpacked or anything. :-/
Anyway, trying patching to 1.3 for now, doubt it makes any difference as its only a small menial patch with changes clearly listed.

Re: Problem with an old error message.
If you tried that many times with the sam result, it is a bug. Many units in various factions have been known to cause crashes in battles. The only way found to continue past one of these unfortunately is auto-resolve. If you know you can win the battle and auto-resolve hands you a defeat, use the console cheat auto_win attacker or auto_win defender, whichever one you are at the time. There is no true fix for it.

Ok thanks, does it need a command to turn off auto_win defend or attack to stop it messing up my campaign or does it only effect the next battle only?

Re: Problem with an old error message.
It only affets that battle. You have to do it for each individual battle.

are you sure its not the zoom in when the general dies that causes the bug?
