Default What if there were no moon?

    Think about it.

    Yin-Yang. Good/Evil. Light/Dark. Masculine/Feminine.

All gone, because we have no moon.

How many assassinations were carried under the moonlight? How many dark orders were given? Wars fought? Battles won? People saved? People killed?

We have no idea that very simply, if there were no moon, as is the case in billions of planets all over this galaxy and universe, we'd be very, very much differently evolved. Not just as creatures, but as societies, cultures, and the whole of civilization as we know it.
    But mark me well; Religion is my name;

Too often talked of, but too little known.

Well nighttime would be a pitch black drag. Until we discovered fire.

I think we probably would've, for military reasons. That's why we first went to space.
If there was no moon, probably all of evolution would be different. But if humans had evolved and become the dominant race, I reckon we'd probably be as advanced as we are much later.

true, but at first we wouldn't wonder whats up there and i believe that the directive to go into space would come much later

um from what I understand life on earth would be drastically different maybe to the point that humans couldnt live here.

The world world be different in shape too. No tides to drive the oceans and shape the continents and because of how the moon was formed there might have been another Earth in the solar system, its only there because of a fluke.

there is a moon because we couldn’t have an eclipse without one ~ that is to say; the earth sun and moon are exactly the right sizes and distance for an eclipse. i don’t think it is mere coincidence.

the moon is not evil, it brings a little light to the otherwise dark night.

two moons would be cool as far as sunsets etc go, but i wonder if they would stop life. two tides etc, what would that do?

And what would be coincidence? That we wouldn't have had an environment that could support life? If it happened once, why not twice? If it happened at least twice, why make such a big hassle out of it?

You know... I thought of the same thing some months ago in a divinely inspired *cough* psychedelic *cough* revelation. The fact that there is such a thing as an eclipse, in my opinion, is not mere coincidence... it's just one of those things that really leave you dumbstruck about just how perfectly arranged this planet is. It's really a miracle we're even alive. And more of a miracle that everything in this planet is just so mathematically perfect. Creation is indeed intelligent. Don't know if there is a god or if it's just the system perpetuating itself intelligently, but it's mind-blowing.

No moon? How would one return from pub late in the night?

One would not, since that would have had big influence so I doubt pubs would have existed without one.

Two moons would probably rip the planet apart if they weren't bumping into us or each other. Either way, no pubs to stumble home from

The effects on evolution would be massive; just think about all the nocturnal animals.

I doubt earth would have been able to support more complex life forms without the moon.

I'm being optimistic, like everyone here, since they are assuming humans actually could have evolved.
