Default Problem with installation on laptop

It's my birthday on Saturday (wooo!) and I have been bought a shiny new laptop that urinates in the face of my current computer in terms of performance and hardware...but unfortunately when I attempt to install Rome onto it I get this annoying message:

"This installation package cannot be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package.
    E:/ Rome - Total war(TM).msi"

If anybody could shed any light on this problem I would very grateful

You'll probably need to specify a bit more system info such as operating system, and what version or RTW/BI you have.

Indeed I apologize, I should know that lol

I am running windows Vista and the version of Rome is the original unpatched, I bought it back in the day (Cost me £40!) when it hadn't been out very long, so I presume it's version 1.2 or 1.0 or something.

I managed to install Medieval fine though :\

I have RTW (and RTR) installed fine on both a vista and an xp laptop.

I don't know if your problem is the laptop part. Maybe you could try reinstalling it on your other computer to see if it's the disk.
