    Default RS2 - Cutscenes/Movies

Have we any thoughts on new movies for RS2, like a new opening movie for the mod, faction movies, that sort of stuff? Once RS2 is in a state ready for testing, it would be good to get started on some of these - But for now, do we have any bright ideas regarding these videos?

It would be pretty amazing to do intro movies, but it's a lot of work. The hardest part about it is the voice acting -- I don't think I've heard any professional quality narration in any mod yet. Iberia:TW's voicework is of such patchy quality it actually detracts from the mod... so this is one of those things that needs to be really well done...

You're right. I noticed the best intro movies are usually those without any voice. The vanilla one was quite good, and the RTR one is really impressive in my opinion, especially the beginning with their historical explanation.
I think the RTR intro movie shows us how much you can do just with the right music.

well... for the faction intros, we could always run the vanilla voice acting over a new movie. I say this because the Vanilla voice acting IMO was brilliant (except for the Romans). The eastern and barbarian intros were very cinematic. So imagine the barbarian intro voice over with all of RS2's beautiful new celts charging about on screen. With these little intros, I think the aim is to really inspire the player to do a campaign with the faction in question.

The Opening movie, like Sloth said, dosen't need any voices, just a really excellent battle, and since I saw Ambiorix in the portraits thread, I've had an idea...

The opening movie could be a re-enactment on screen of the Battle of Atuatuca, between the Belgae (I think) and the Romans. The gauls won this particular battle, and therefore it would perfectly highlight RS2's focus on the non-Roman factions. If any of you have seen Time commanders, then you'll know what I'm getting at.

can't we just have clips of various battles - we want to see the Romans winning SOMETHING! Magnesia, anyone? Tapae?

We can do whatever we all decide, but Atuatuca was a particularly cool battle thats all.

Another option would be subtitles instead of voiceover -- it wouldn't be hard to write a gripping intro for our factions, just damn hard to get anyone to voice them well.

Not the original team though. it's a couple of guys trying to patch it together from what can still be found cos the skins were too good to let go to waste.

That´s TRUE! Prometheus legionary looks GREAT! I use them in my RS 1.5 (but with RS 2.0 roman shields ) .

    "Who were you expecting?
    Russell Crowe??"

    That made my day.

I as well like the beginning, it would look really cool if we manages to do that in Rs.

DVK is right the 3d volume "Asterix at the Olympic Games" is realy good for trash, nothing if compared to "the romans attack" or "Cleopatra's mission" the two last volumes.

They gather all european superstars (Zidane, Schumacker, Tony Parker...) they spent a large amount of money in pub across europe for nothing...
