    Default Vanishing Crossbowmen

During an assault on a rebel city I began to batter down a section of wall. There was a unit of spear militia and crossbowmen on the wall. As the first section of wall fell the spear militia ran down but the crossbowmen stayed put. I then tageted a section to the left. Surprisingly the crossbowmen valiantly held thier position. When at last the section of wall fell isolating the crossbowmen they vanished into thin air. There were about 3 bodies on the ground behind the wall and none on the isolated section of wall. They never reappeared in the fight. Has anyone else seen this? Has anyone had this happen while defending a wall? (I hope they don't fix this in a patch.)

There was an instance in the americas campaign on kingdoms, i was playing as spain. It was a bridge battle and i found i could kill the entire force of mayans using cannon and musket fire with impunity. It narrowed down to the last unit, but they responded strangely to the barrage and their models started stretching and growing into what can only be described as 'gittery spider freaks'. My final cavalry charge ignored them and when i killed the last of the normal mayans the battle ended. So as in your case it was better then having to fight them.

    I think i have some screenshots...somewhere

Maybe they are under the ruins of the wall, I mean under rocks?

Where they had been standing there was a large area of wall with no damage and the wall remained after they disappeared.

Once I told 4 units of Peasant Archers to join one of my family members' army with just enough room for them. Instead of joining they walked to his square and disappeared for a turn or two. When they came back, I ordered one into Constanople (I was Venice and had recently conquered it oh and sp!) and it disappeared for I think 2 mins. Where did they go and has anyone else had this problem or is this a unique glitch to my somewhat out-of-date PC?

I tried to duplicate the vanishing crossbowmen scenario but the HRE defenders were too smart and both units ran off the wall as soon as it started taking damage.

I think they have infiltradet some spies in TWC, I also have noticed that AI is becoming smarter. We have to start to use some kind of codes...

Well these were German pavaise crossbowmen and armored sergeants and not some ignorant (fill in some people group which you disdain) rebels. So they were either smarter than your average rebel or, more likely, more cowardly, since they foolishly believe they have the hope of being ransomed if captured. (Evil laugh by wicked human played.)

One time I was sieging a Byzantine castle and smashed the wall with catapults. Their general ran into the breach to plug it up and disappeared, bodyguard and all. I sent some men in and they fought with thin air for a while before my adviser suddenly yelled "we've killed the enemy general!"

Apparently this glitch has something to do with destroyed walls...
