Default Do you replay battles often ?

I'm bad for this. If I lose I always replay the battle, if a General dies I'll replay, if I win but think I can win by better odds I'll replay. Takes out a massive chunk of Realism obviously but I always play VH/VH where sometimes losing one important battle can crippple your whole empire!

if you don't want to lose, don't play.

Also, the game is pretty easy even at VH/VH or H/H so why replay?

And replay when you win is madness, it will take years to finish a campaign!

I don't want to lose but I want to play too, so I do it that way...

I'm a bit of a perfectionist, it bugs me too much to see Generals that have died in combat on my family tree and to see that I've won 100 battles but lost 1. No one else does this then ?

I never finish campaigns, that's mainly down to boredom though.

LeoDowner, play the game however you enjoy it.

Personally, I rarely lose battles and I only reload to deal with bugs. I relish the glorious defeats.

Losing a battle is a great event for me. It is quite a rare thing so I enjoy those moments very much. Of course I always seek revenge...

Thus I never replay battles, except when I'm forced to do so. Thats usually is when I get a CTD after a battle.

If you enjoy replaying battles, then there is no need to stop doing this. After all every game is meant to be a way to relax. So enjoy it however you see fit

Exactly my opinion. That way, you won't get angry everytime someone sinks some stupid Bireme of yours and you get a defeat!

I've started playing differently now, I don't exactly revel in my (rare) defeats but I accept them as bad planning on my part and try again without reloading.

that's the spirit of a true General! Always try to learn something from any defeat, and wou will be defeated no more!

I'm quite proud of the fact i never replay unless a ctd occurs which to be honest is a very rare occasion, i have lost many battles and lost many a great family member although i am upset with myself for letting this happen i have to accept it and try to do better the next time after all there will be many more battles and many more generals.
I dont see the point in replaying, i may not finish the game as quick as others but i still enjoy the problems that come with losing an important battle or province and come back a lot better qualified to try and take it back.

losing battles is what keeps my interest in Rome TW alive. it annoys me endlessly and makes me want to unleash my vengeance upon the victor. the most manic playing sessions i experience are right after losing a battle.

Same here. Carthaginians just attacked me and occupied Lillybaeum, killing 2 family members. The legions are mustering...

I reload only when bugs screw me over -like the seemingly random AI/player control over reinforcements, or when those damn forests make me unable to actually see my units at all.

When I lose, I screwed up and deserve the punishment. It also gives a nice feel of story to the game -slights need punishment, after all, and there's nothing quite like wiping out the army that just killed your general's father

My sentiments exactly! I've experienced that feeling a few times during a game myself.

I'm playing ExRM now and I've lost about 12 battles I think, won 120. Most of the losses are naval battles though so I don't count those as there are no tactics involved. I just lost an awesome young general to the Gauls, 18years old with 6command stars and lots of other abilites. Really annoying!

The only way that I replay a battle is if for some silly reason (by mistake) I allow the AI to control one of my armies - I will exit (and probably lose) and re-load.

Sometimes to win against seemingly insurmountable odds is more satisfying than an easy (but hard fought battle). Even in such battles that I get an army destroyed so long as the fight was decent I won't reload.

It's always a shame when an experienced general is killed - I've lost them to friendly fire and also once when I thought the bridge I was defending was clear to run my general into a small phalanx for a heroic death.....

I remember charging my general into the back of a Macedonian phalanx, who turned around to face him with their pikes as he approached. As I reach for the "stop" button, I am suddenly given a cut-scene of the enemy general dying. Great, except it meant that my general didn't get stopped, and was promptly skewered like a kebab.

I replayed that one. I can't imagine that a general would get distracted in the middle of making a charge, so much that he doesn't realise he's approaching spikey doom.
