    Default Tis a conspiracy????

My conspiracy theory in relation to gamespy's server problems.

I'm sorry but all the evidence seems to point to Sega and Gamespy being in cahoots to force the players into kingdoms.

These are the things I've noticed from day one.
Initially gamespy worked fine with both MTW2 and Kingdoms, worked fine for
over a month as best as I remember......

Then the online players realized what a pain in the arse it was to have to coordinate getting kingdoms games going, having to have players in the same mod.......everybody was griping about what a pain it was.

Maybe a month after (as best I remember) the players all started coming back to vanilla, giving up on trying to coordinate kingdoms games. I think for most of us..... switching mods after logging on in one, is just annoying as hell.

Needless to say...the kingdoms mods though excellent games failed because of the multi mods issue.

Then Retro, BC and SS mods came out, which requires kingdoms, I believe. And of course these great mods brought people back to the gamespy kingdoms server. At this point is when gamespy bellied up on vanilla.
Needless to say the online lobby is incredibly sad compared to a year ago (in all mods).

We've all seen the question posed in the new (which I hate) launcher asking: would you pay $10 for a new mod??
I just can't help but feel the whole gamespy issue is based on money....... and I can't help but feel Sega and gamespy are working together to force players to buy kingdoms, which everybody has no trouble of logging into on gamespy.

Just strikes me as damned funny..... that it was working fine, till the people lost interest in kingdoms due to the hassle of having to relog to change mods.

Irregardless of all the trouble, my friends and I continue to push our way into gamespy on vanilla.

The damn game rocks, and I feel all gamespy needs to do to fix things is reduce the band width for kingdoms.... which often I noticed has no players....... not even in the excellent user created mods, and increase it for vanilla which still has a dedicated following.

    What do you think??

I made a comment on the exact same thing in one of those "I can't get on multiplayer" threads. It does seem like a way to get us to buy Kingdoms (which I don't have and probably won't buy). What makes it suspicious to me is how long it's been going on. But, still, I try every couple of nights to get onto multiplayer vanilla, and about once a week or so strike it lucky and have a string of good games. It's a shame, because I feel if they were to fix the issues with vanilla then a lot of people who left would come back. A full lobby makes for a fun night.

As far as I know it's not discriminate between whether you're running kingdoms or M2 as for SS & BC well BC using M2 so that's no different.

I heard someone say they could log on with Retro fit no problem, but that too me sounded weird. Personally I don't see the logon problem with mp as a conspiracy. To me MP in general as always felt like step-child of the community.

It just needs a little attention and it could be so much greater.

EDIT: Kingdoms is worth getting in my opinion even with it's separate folders that requires you to log onto mp 4 different ways.

It was incredibly weird when it happened though it is farfetched in some ways it isn't as there's money involved... Vanilla online is great but I don't have the time to play any more...

They're not the best investment these days from a long term standpoint going back. I think they are in good shape going forward. They're in the housing market. I do think their prospects going forward are very solid."

Yeah, Stainless Steel logged on for me no problems but Vanilla was a pain in the butt to get.

Kingdoms really is worth getting just for the mods though.
"The dark giant lay sprawled on the sands of Tunis. Far to the north the new champion of the arena lifted his arms in triumph. The galleys passed upon the sea, the soldiers laid down their arms, cities were rebuilt and peace was everywhere welcomed. The supine giant was unconscious, but not dead. Slowly he began to raise himself upon his elbows."
