Filefront dowload of 3.0 giving error message

Hi,

New to the forums here but been playing the TW games for a while. I like the sound of this mod so downloaded the v3.1 patch only to realise that I need the v3.0 one. Eventually got it from Filefront (after about 3 hours! - wow, that's a monster) but unfortunately when I go to run it I get the following very irritating message:

"The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program"

Has anyone else had this issue? If so, is there any way to fix it without doing the full download again? If not, are there any other mirrors if the version on Filefront seems to be corrupted?

I'm running on XP SP2, so it's def not a Vista (*spits*) issue or anything like that.

Any help much appreciated!

Version 3.0 seems to be working fine for everybody else. I would suggest downloading it again when you get the time. And try installing it over a clean install of med 2.

Hi.
I am also having problems downloading the file from filefront, however it isn't the same reason.
It seems either filefront doesnt like me, either i don';t know what.
Petition has been submited to Filefront support, but i expect little of them.
any chance someone wanna start torrenting this maybe?

if anyone has other practical download solutions that are not file front, please do suggest them!

The problem is other file sharing sites do not allow downloads in excess of 500MB's. Which is why I only have the link to filefront. My best advise is to try downloading at qiuet times of the day like early morning time. Filefront is very busy in the afternoon, especially at weekends.

I have learnt this hard way myself. People sometimes complain about the mod taking a few hours to download, but thats nothing.. It took me about 10 hours to upload version 3.0 to filefront. And that was when I got up at 6.00AM to start uploading it! I found it was impossible to upload in the afternoon.

Do you think you can maybe check how long it would take you to start seeding it in torrent form? ^^

It has never taken me over 90 minutes (usually less) to download any of the mod files from filefront. I have a DSL connection and a standard system. May be a problem with your ISP.

Just to update, I downloaded it again yesterday afternoon, and got the same error message when I tried to start the install. As before, it didn't even get to the point of starting the installation wizard or asking to agree with the license agreement or anything - just threw an error in those windows boxes with the red X which we all know and love so well.

I've since completely cleaned down my installation of M2TW and Kingdoms and am reinstalling both, and will give it a try from there. If that doesn't work, I have no idea what's wrong, other than possibly the file on filefront has gotten corrupted as the error suggests.

Aaaargh. Still getting the exact same error message.

For the record, I uninstalled everything.
Re-installed M2TW from the DVDs (v1.0).
Patched to 1.2.
Installed Kingdoms from the DVD (which patched M2TW to 1.3 as part of the process).
Patched Kingdoms to 1.5.
Tried to run Kingdoms_Grand_Campaign_M0.exe, as downloaded from Filefront (size 563,845kB).
Before the usual InstallShield or whatever started, got the error message as above: The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program.

Any suggestions at this point? I'm doing my nut here....

I know some people have had problems after they installed patch 1.5. Are you using any other mods ATM? Stainless Steal changes files in the main m2tw folder and this could also cause other mods not to work. Sorry but I really dont know what else it could be. If it is the download that is at fault here I have no doubt that other people will confirm this. As the numbers of people downloading this mod are quite high ATM.

Hi - no, definitely no other mods at the moment - I had a few on there before, but haven't loaded any of them since reinstalling today. It's a vanilla installation.

Unfortunately I cannot test this out myself because I am in the middle of working on a new update. Like I said I will wait to see if anybody else reports similar problems.

Oh, and out of desperation and curiosity, I'm trying downloading the Kingdoms_Grand_Campaign_M0.exe file from Filefront again, only this time I'm using IE (*spits*) rather than Firefox just in case that makes a difference.... *sighs*

Nope, no difference at all, still throws that same error message before even bringing up the start of an install process. Bugger.

Due you have any virus protection software active when you download the file? Is so, disable it and try again. I will download the file and try myself, should take a little over an hour.

Just downloaded the 3.0 file from filefront in 69 minutes and it ran fine. Problem must be on your end or with your ISP. 706,479 KB. Kingdoms_Grand_Campaign_M0.exe.

Interesting - the one I downloaded is 706,075kB. I will disable my anti-virus (and my firewall as well, while I'm at it) and try the download again.

Stylix, you are a genius - my evil antivirus and/or firewall was to blame - the install started straight off once I downloaded it without that.

Dave - you might want to add that to the front posts for the v3.0 and v3.1 downloads in case any other poor souls torture themselves the way I did.

Right, time to go and get the longbows warmed up.....

I'm glad you were able to get the download to work for you. I would hate it if you could not play the best mod available! I hope that you enjoy it as much as I have and will get the next update when it is available. Always glad to be of any assistance. Thank goodness for this forum!
