preference bug

on my CTW, no matter what preference i set on the menu, it always stays default, i set it on huge unit numbers, and in a custom battle, the unit selection screen has the correct number of men, but in battle, it reverts back to the "normal" unit settings. this is a minor bug as it doesn't really affect much, but its a bit annoying

Don't know how this can happen.

I run it on BI 1.6 exe and i haven't this strange bug, and i can't remember that this happens with RTW 1.5 exe.

I dont know if this is related at all but even though I have disabled the arrow markers they still show up, it is really quite irritating.

Edit: I have tried both RTW and BI exe.

are you all in the right preference files? I've managed to turn it off..:hmmm:
EDIT: allright. the problem is that you did not change the preference files in the chvalry total war folder (there are 2 preferences txt files, one with the chiv prefix). change both and you will in theory (or in my case) disable the arrow markers, and the banners if you so choose.

Always change the in the chivalry mod folder included files, if you want change something in Chiv. But only one preferences.txt file is possible as valid.

Yeah I changed it in the chivalry folder but it refuses to work for some reason, I have been doing this on mods for years so i know how to do it. I even did a fresh install because it was bugging me so much but same result.

DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS:TRUE, thats a direct copy and paste from my preferences file in the chiv folder.

Very strange, your issue.
I guess, your file structure is different in this case, otherwise it must work as it works for everybody else, too.

Perhaps you have a preferences folder or a preferences.txt active in the RTW directory, and this overthrows the Chiv preferences folder?

I checked the pref txt in the RTW directory and that also has arrow markers disabled. Its driving me mad tbh and really impacts on my enjoyment of the battle's. I do have XGM installed also but assumed that would make no difference because it is in it's own mod folder, anyone got any idea's?

Hi DaVinci, unfortunatley I do not know how to post a screenshot. I believe however that my problem must be something to do with Vista rather than chivalry as I have discovered Vanilla BI invasion has the same problem although RTW and XGM allow me to disable arrow markers with no issue. In the end i think i must accept that BI and chivalry are unplayable for me but thank's for the attempt to help.

Hmm, there should be a workaround for Vista, i guess. I recommend to search in the TWC RTW tech section.

I have actually managed to resolve this problem ( by accident as it happens), if anyone else has the same problem you simply need to disable account user control otherwise it seems to ignore any changes made to the preferences text.
