Best Campaign yet!
I am playing as Venice once again! My first campaign as Venice was also my best campaign, in the level of awesomeness, but this definately surpases it.
Why is this my best Campaign? Well, because I'm not doing so great. And frankly, for the fact that I'm not doing so great is what makes it fun, before all my other campaigns I could easily dominate..then I would get bored.
Now, it has seemed like I have been so close to that mark where "I know Ima win", and then it slipped out of my grasps multiple times.
1. I was on a conquering spree, winning battle after battle, then the Pope excomm'd me, I usually don't care about this. Then; France, HRE, Milan, and Sicily attacked me all at once, I only lost 1 city in this 20 some odd year war with the other factions, that city was Ajacco, but who really needs that? This war was a definate Hog on rescources, but At the time I had 60'000 Florins, enough for a 40 year war.
Mind you I was also campaigning in The Byzantine Empire, which was also hogging valuable rescources... Much more then I would want
2. Fighting against France, Byzantines, HRE, Milan, and Sicily was the most epic thing that ever happened to me, I was fighting wars on around 4 fronts, trying to even out my armies where needed best as possible, And I was pulling through.
However; My ally, that had been my ally for 50 some odd turns had now turned against me...Hungary... I had decided to not defend any of my border, knowing I would have Hungary defending them. Mindyou approx. 70% of my lands border Hungary at this point. So with all these wars going on and betraying... It's definately testing my skills.
Lol, although, the pope died and my Cardinal was elected, and all of the factions waring with me become Excomm'd, Problem? 3 of their armies were on a crusade...and they were in MY land. crap
3. Now, I think this is Exclusive to Stainless Steel, and I've played Stainless Steel since I can remember. So aparently all my generals HATE me! around 6 of my Cities that were being Governed stated "YOU ARE NOT MY KING, I REFUSE TO LEAVE THIS CITY, IT IS MINE!... THE GATES ARE LOCKED" - Exact words from my generals! about 2 turns later these settlements turned rebel with 20/20 units in all of them.
the cities that turned rebel were: Iraklion, Milan, Thessilonica, Ajacco, and Rhodes. Most the cities were in Greece where my armies were already extremely caught up fighting Byzantines.
In my previous Campaign I destroyed the Byzantines effortlessly, but in this they have been very annoying, using ships to slow down my economy and killing my soldiers that was transporting places. They also have 4 stacks of very good units sitting around constantinople... I have 1 army of Venetian Heavy Infantry and Ven. Archers, and they have destroyed 2 other armies so far.
So thats it... tell me what you guys think and I probably will update you on whats going on, Its been a rollercoster ride and I love it!
