Very low performance on RTW. Please help!

I got a 512 mb GeForce 8600 GT card. It is supposed to run Rome TW with high graphics easily but it doesn't. I get pretty bad performance even when graphics are set to medium.

What can I do to solve this problem? Please help!

Well it is also much dependant on cpu also, and what unit size etc you want to use, any chance you know what they are ?

If you have a low-end cpu, high-end graphics card won't make that much a difference.

Make sure that you turn down grass and shadows - these are the biggest hits on graphics (apparently).

If you are unsure on the specs of the PC you use - run DXDIAG it will give you information on your set up.

If you are using Windows Vista that cause problems as Vista is a performance drain.

Try downgrading to Windows XP.

Vista is only a performance drag if your computers already at the minimum specs for Vista. I've been playing RTW and M2TW on a Vista laptop and it's better than any XP computer in my house. I wouldn't listen to that nonsense about Vista. It's a great OS.
