1) What's the story behind your Forum Name? Why did you pick it?
"Prince_of_Macedon" is a legacy from my love of Ancient Macedon (and using them nearly exclusively on Rome: Total War).

2) How long have you been playing this game?
Since 5/21/08. Yes, I'm pretty new to this title, but I've been playing Rome: Total War for over a year now.

3) Do you play M2TW online or single-player? Or a combination of both?
I play primarily online (12 games now), but when I absolutely cannot connect to Gamespy, then I'll mess around with Custom Battle.

4) Do you prefer to play M2TW (vanilla) or the mods?
Definitely "Vanilla" since most of the Multiplayer community uses it online.

5) What's your favorite faction and why?
I don't really have one. But I am leaning towards Spain since I have the most interest in them historically-speaking (during their Conquistador days).

Reading about Bernal Diaz's military adventure with Cortes was pretty hardcore stuff, but it makes for exciting reading.

6) Your least favorite faction and why?
As I said, I'm still new to this game, but as for now, I would have to say the Aztecs are my least favorite due to their limited unit roster.

7) Who are your Top 2 favorite military and/or political figures who lived between 1080 and 1530 (or at least within a reasonable close proximity to those years)?

- My top favorite commander from this time period would have to be Hernan Cortes. I know he had a lot of help from the indigenous tribes, diseases, etc, but only an incredibly brave (or stupid) man would ever try to conquer an entire empire with a starting army of a few hundred. Burning his own ships was testimony to how confident this man was.

- My second favorite commander from this period would have to be Genghis Khan. This guy was simply unstoppable, and the army he forged was a plague on the Medieval world for Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

8) What else do you want the Medieval 2 community to know about you?
- I still prefer Rome: Total War, but when I need my Medieval-fix, then M2TW is easily the best choice.

- Oh, and I've eaten at Medieval Times. Loved it!

1) What's the story behind your Forum Name? Why did you pick it?

Great grandparents from Sweden and Denmark and my wife's are from Norway and Greece. Icould not see how to get the Greek bit included.

about 2 months

single player, sometimes by committee with a buddy

4) Do you prefer to play M2TW (vanilla) or the mods?

usually retrofit mod, sometimes custom mod

5) What's your favorite faction and why?

Spain - love Jinettes, second choice - Russia (cav in the open spaces, of course)

6) Your least favorite faction and why?

none - they all have their challanges. I like to approach things historically.

7) Who's your favorite military commander who lived between 1080 and 1530?

None - more interested in early Greek and 19th century
If I had to choose -- El Cid -- too bad Valencia is not a faction in the reconquista.

8) What else do you want the Medieval 2 community to know about you?

Play style tend toward Chivalrous (sacking an entire region just does not seem to fit historically (usually it was a single town and city (Constatinople and other mideastern sites of the crusades). I also tend to approach the game without taking advantage of the computer limitations so I guess the multiplayer is not really for me.

Turks. I love gunpowder and Turkish history is my favourite.

Vanilla: None really. SS: Kingdom of Jerusalem, so annoying and strong

Venice, They are very unique with their military units

Russians, their land acreage is way to big for me, I prefer condensed area's. (Venice)

No idea, theres a few, mostly French Kings.

I enjoy long walks on the beach. ^^

ive always had a fascination with greek myths, and theseus was my favorite hero. the numbers are auxiliary. i am not greek

retrofit grand campaign, vanilla kingdoms, SS6.1 baby!

venice. strong militia means good early expansion. great heavy infantry later on, as well as some decent cavalry, and great gunpowder

Mostly singleplayer, sometimes online with a friend of mine.

I play a combination of the Kingdoms campaigns and Stainless Steel.

Spain/Portugal: Conquistadores+Aztec= heroic victory and gold

Any of the muslim factions, I like heavy inf, cav, and do not like HA's

Alright, guys, a lot of you are unsure about some of the military & political figures of this time period. Thus, I've added a poll to give you a sample of who's who.

1) What's the story behind your Forum Name? Why did you pick it? Had a hard time picking a name, I like to try to be unique but not outlandish. Not sure why I choose this ID. Just think Tommyguns rock and that's what this name is in reference to. Tommygun didn't seem to fit me (maybe a lil old too be a tommy) even though I have it (Tommygun) as a gamespy ID also.

2) How long have you been playing this game? MTW2 was my 1st but not last totalwar game. I’ve been playing for a year and a half now.

3) Do you play M2TW online or single-player? Or a combination of both? Man I live for online play, we have a great group of regular players playing everynight 4v4 mega battles, man they are soooooo much fun. Hadn't played the campaign much since getting involved with on-line play. But making maps I do a lot of single player battles vs the AI to test the maps.

4) Do you prefer to play M2TW (vanilla) or the mods? May the gods bless and preserve vanilla for the eternities.........still addicted to vanilla. Haven't the room for the SS mod, which I have recently downloaded to an external harddrive, I'll be cleaning up my PC soon, to get that bad boy installed .

5) What's your favorite faction and why? Tough choices, I'd have to say when all things go as expected in combat..... I do love the egyptians (online play only).

6) Your least favorite faction and why? No least favorites, just some I don't play as well as others.

7) Who's your favorite military commander who lived between 1080 and 1530? Frederick I (Barbarossa) the embodiment of the ideal medieval german king.

8) What else do you want the Medieval 2 community to know about you? I'm here to help whoever, however I can with my limited knowledge.

When I decided to make a forum account, I was currently playing a Greece campaign in RTW hence the 'Hoplite' and my name is Harry.

Not sure. Around a year or so.

Stainless Steel (SS)

5) What's your favorite faction and why?
Vanilla - Milan - Just love their accents, starting place and the look of their units.
SS - Teutonic Order - Their units have to be some of the best looking and powerful in the game, also, easy expansion into Russia makes it very fun.

6) Your least favorite faction and why?
Egypt probably, hate the look of their units.

Richie the Lionheart! Maybe because I'm English..

1) What's the story behind your Forum Name? Why did you pick it?
Just a name I made about 6 years ago when I started playing MMOs - FFXI was my first. Oddly enough, it's very similar to the Eredar Kil'Jaeden from the Warcraft lore. I found that out when the GMs made me change the name >_<

2) How long have you been playing this game?
2-3 months ish

3) Do you play M2TW online or single-player? Or a combination of both?
Single Player only so far

4) Do you prefer to play M2TW (vanilla) or the mods?
Played vanilla forever, but SS 6.1 is amazing!

5) What's your favorite fiction and why?
Broken Sky rates pretty high up there - only because I've loved it since I was like 12, and have read the 7 book series about 4 times through.

6) Your least favorite fiction and why?
Harry Potter; I read 1 through 4. It's a lame series and got so much publicity for god knows why... Don't get me wrong, the author does a great job of developing the characters and the world, I just think it's a dumb story is all.

7) Who's your favorite military commander who lived between 1080 and 1530?
Joan of Arc, but Richard the Lionheart is a close second.

8) What else do you want the Medieval 2 community to know about you?
I love beer, and pie's pretty good too. Homemade Texan Pecan Pie is to die for :p

1) What's the story behind your Forum Name? Why did you pick it?

This is just sort of a user name I've used for years...and I honestly don't remember exactly why I started using, though the meaning should be somewhat obvious.

2) How long have you been playing this game?

I bought it when it came out, played it for a month, and put it away. I've been playing it heavily for the last 4 or 5 months though.

3) Do you play M2TW online or single-player? Or a combination of both?

Single player 99.999999% of the time.

4) Do you prefer to play M2TW (vanilla) or the mods?

I thought Vanilla was fine until I tried mods. I do sometimes miss Vanilla's simplicity though, which is why lands to conquer is generally what I play (though stainless steel is incredibly excellent and soaking up all my free time)

5) What's your favorite faction and why?

Egypt was my most fun campaign thus far, but I gotta say Denmark, even though I got no danish blood. I just always find myself playing custom games as them, or allying with them and building them up in games where I'm not actually playing as them.

6) Your least favorite faction and why?

I've never had any desire to play as Portugal, Milan/Genoa, Hungary, or Poland. Nothing against those factions- I just played through Europa Universallis III for the first time as Portugal- but in terms of wanting to start a campaign as them in this game, you'd have to pay me.

7) Who's your favorite military commander who lived between 1080 and 1530?

I'm on a First Crusade history kick right now, so I'm gonna say either Bohemond of Taranto or Tancred. But i'm definetly lying. And favorite is such a loaded word.

My skin rash is 100% not as a bad as it looks. I am reading 'No End in Sight', and it is overwhelming. I am probably drunk.

Q) What's the story behind your Forum Name? Why did you pick it?


A) I had been searching for one to replace my original that I grew tired with. I needed something to represent strength in armed combat. When I realized that the most well known Armatus was somewhat of a failed general and flake I knew then that I had to resurrect the name and try to do it some justice.

A) Since it came out.

A) I play exclusively online multiplayer custom battles or multiplayer hotseat campaigns over the TWC forums.

A) I prefer to play Kingdoms, Stainless Steel or Broken Crescent, but M2 with the latest updates is still a good game.

A) That's a tough one, I've been spoiled by mods... if I was forced to choose I'd say the Byzantines; because I like the idea of playing out the alternate history of the Roman Empire that could have been.

A) Not really sure. I think more than any particular faction I dislike the filler units or generic skins that all factions seems to end up with.

Tough One. I love playing all factions. But probably France. They are annoying, and they get the best Scottish archers that even the Scots don't get. I mean what the crap??
