Icon1 In need of a favor

I am truly sick of fighting Pontus and Dacia in their nasty blue/pink colour schemes, along with all the Roman colour schemes. I figured out how to edit the colours of the actual factions and edit their icons, as to fit my desired look. But, I went into to a battle to check out my new, enhanced coloured armies, only to find that the colours i input into the game only apply to the minimap.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could point me to a mod that changes the colours of the afore mentioned factions, or to someone who could help me in fixing up the factions to look better. I am quite inexperienced at modding and whatnot, so if there is anyone just looking for a project that would be interesting, it would be great if you could pick this up.

If there is anyone who would do this as a player willing to just help a fellow out, i have colour settings (as in the Red, Green, and Blue colour value's) for the factions I would like fixed.

Again, any amount of help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I do believe that you are refering to changing the default colours on the textures. These you have to recolour by hand in a program like Photoshop or another digital editing tool that will allow you to paint freely. I think GIMP is a freeware version that will do what you need doing.

Here is the tutorial section for unit skinning and modeling:

Everything from step by step insctructions on how to use PS and GIMP to videos on making new units.

i believe a mod might solve most of your color scheme problems, unless you want to recolor all the units in those factions...

I'll move this to the RTW section where someone might have some idea of what mod may help you out.

the quickest way to change the colour of a factions units, is to make a copy of a skin then just change the hue by pulling the hue shift slider along until you get the right tone. then clone the parts of the skin with the colour change onto the original ~ done.

tip; localise the cursor on the skin you want to clone, you do this by positioning the cursor [in any good editor you should have a selection of brush shapes, use the square one] in a corner then click to set it as the primary cloning object [the bit to be copied], then click on the same corner on the skin to be changed. once this is done you can freely move the cursor to any point on each skin and it will copy that area with each click.

use the same technique to copy from photos [shields, armour, faces etc], this will make your units look far more real.

if changing the hue doesnt give a satisfactory result, use tranparency and the colour tool [there is usually a way of painting that recolors without changing the shades, the toolhas different names in dif programs], this means you dont have to redo the shading on garments.

alternatively just download a load of mods and overwrite the textures with ones that have already been changed.
